Contribute Feedback What Pat H likes about Rhythm Restaurant:
Had never even before but assumed if invited there by Chinese people it would be good and that proved correct. They ordered three dishes which with a single bowl of rice was more than enough. A spicy white fish soup to start was excellent. Next was a pork dish which I think were pork bellies with soy and other spices. Unsure what the vegetable dish but it was delicious. All non traditional dishes for me but will send... View all feedback.
What Don Wisozk doesn't like about Rhythm Restaurant:
I tried Rythm when it first opened and was very disappointed. The food was terrible. I tried it again a few months later and it wasn't any better. I decided to give it one more try a few days ago and ordered chicken chow mein (not too bad but the use of cold cuts for chicken was a definite turn off) I also had breaded almond chicken. The top piece was ok but the ones under it were soggy. The pineapple sweet sour pork... View all feedback.
If you want authentic Chinese food, this is the go to place in Nanaimo. It is a quaint family run restaurant. The food is plentiful and hot and you can get the level of spiciness that a person can handle. My favourite foods are the special eggplant and the cumin lamb. If you like fish and want a lot of food try the boiled fish in a chili oil, it is a yummy and will feed you another day
We had take-out from here a while ago and will do so again for our New Year's Eve Meal. The staff on the phone and at the restaurant were really friendly. We thought the Sweet Sour Pork was very good, as was the Lemon Chicken and the Pork Belly with Spicy Garlic. The House Special Chow Mien was fine. The Sweet and Sour Soup was just ok. They have a big menu and we will probably try to branch out a bit and try some new things.

I'd given up long ago on finding decent quality Chinese food in Nanaimo. I have travelled 120 K (about 80 miles) to south Victoria to find it. We picked up Brocholli with garlic, Kung Pao Chicken, and a Prawn dish with a side of rice. It was all very good. Not quite five star good, but we will happily be back and may make this our go to place.
We have been trying to find a really good Chinese Restaurant since moving to the Island. We have tried those we chose, several times, and each time the taste was off a little or the quantity was lacking, or not hot. except for yesterday. After having a very special day, we were late coming home and decided to order Chinese food to celebrate. Don found one called “Rhythm Chinese Food”. WOW! We ordered Lemon Chicken, Sweet and Sour Meatballs, Chinese Chow Mein, Chop Suey, Tempura type Prawns. It came with all the sauces in individual dishes and the only thing missing was the fortune cookies. The food was so hot, we were blowing on it so we could eat it right away. Yummy, to say the very least. This was, for us, the very best Nanaimo has to offer and if you haven’t tried them, please do. You won’t be disappointed.
