My wife told me about this place. She works in Nanaimo once a week and occasionally goes there for lunch. They have plenty of gluten free options for her. We were heading out to a show and she suggested we go for dinner at Zalathai beforehand. Well I am sure glad I did. What a GREAT place!!The service was outstanding. Very pleasant and respectful staff. A great menu, full of many gluten free, dairy free, and vegan options, etc. Most of the choices can be made GF, dairy free, or vegan, etc. My wife had the GF Pad Thai and I had the Green Curry with tofu. My green curry was absolutely delicious. One of the best meals I have had in a very long time!! The curry sauce was so delicious. The veggies were so fresh and not overcooked. Nice and crispy. The rice was served in a separate bowl and was nice and fluffy. But that green curry sauce! Oh, my goodness. Hard to describe just how yummy that was. Oh, and the price was very reasonable. I am going back there again for sure. I love it when I find a real gem and Zalathai surpassed all of my expectations. So, so impressed. I live an hour outside Nanaimo and would drive there just to go to that restaurant! LOVED IT!

You have to do a little work to find this place but believe me, it's worth it. If you like Thai food at it's authentic best, then this is the place. Husband and wife operation with some help from a fellow from Thailand. Beef salad, pad Thai and curries were awesome. My son in law is a chef from Bangkok so I know of what I speak. Highly recommend this place if good authentic food is what you're after in Nanaimo.

Very tasty starters and curries here, the pad Thai was great. Reasonable prices. Not the nicest inside but quite the norm for Asian cuisine for Nanaimo. Seats are uncomfortable and decor very basic, but the service was great, very friendly staff. Service a little slow but we just kept our waitress busy and she did get the drinks out and then The food came soon after. Overall a good meal and really enjoyed the evening.
