The Grumpy Monk
Description
The restaurant in question has received mixed reviews, with negative feedback focusing on long wait times, subpar food quality, and unprofessional management behavior. However, positive reviews praised the extensive craft beer selection, diverse menu options, attentive service, and enjoyable atmosphere. Dishes like chicken waffles sandwich, sushi, and fried green tomatoes received high praise. Grumpy Monk is one of the top restaurants in Myrtle Beach! During CCU parents weekend, we had an amazing evening there. The craft beers were exceptional with a wide variety to choose from. The food paired perfectly with the drinks. Our server, Donnie, was outstanding. We quickly fell in love with Grumpy Monk and can't wait to go back. Highly recommend checking it out! Great service and atmosphere, but my meal was not enjoyable. Luckily, my friends had no complaints about their food. I ordered the Philly grilled cheese and it was very burnt, and pass on the tropical coleslaw, it was disgusting. Our waitress waswonderful though!
I had a wonderful first experience at Grumpy Monk. The service was attentive, and there was a great selection of intriguing food options. We sampled a variety of dishes, including wings, poutine, slaw, salad, and several beers, and everything was tasty. The wings stood out in particular—large, fresh, and perfectly cooked. I can't wait to go back and explore more of the menu. Overall, I would rate the food preparation a 7/10, the service an 8/10, cleanliness a 9/10, and the value a 6/10.
The food was outstanding, the location was convenient since it was near our new home in Carolina Forest, and our waiter was fantastic.
If you're craving wings, this is the spot to visit! The smoked, baked, and fried wings are all incredibly tasty. The happy hour menu during Sunday Football is excellent, featuring numerous TVs and a great selection of draft beers. It doesn’t get much better than this! Be sure to arrive early on Sundays around noon, as it gets crowded quickly.
