This is a cooking school and boy do they know how to cook. Good luck finding them open, and Lord help you if you insist on sensible service, but the food is great and they will eventually get you things like: a refresh on your ice tea or catsup for your fries. Their focus is on the oh so tasty food so forgive them if they need a reminder on the other details. View all feedback.
What Mark D doesn't like about Courses At Muskegon:
Reservation only. Good menu, excellent servers. Everyone working here are culinary students, so no tipping required. Really, it took forever to get our food! 1 hour and we were finally served our main course, and we were one of only four small parties in the restaurant. Ordered med-well, got med-rare. Great desserts. Very small no-name, bad tasting beer selection. Overall it was very expensive $145 for 3 w/dessert) a... View all feedback.
This place is a cooking school, and they really know their craft. It can be challenging to catch them open, and don’t expect attentive service, but the food is fantastic. Eventually, they'll bring you refills for your iced tea or ketchup for your fries. Their priority is clearly on creating delicious dishes, so you might need to nudge them about the other aspects of service.
We loved our food! Everything was delicious. We plan to return often!
The restaurant offers a wonderful selection of food that is beautifully presented and delicious. The staff and students are friendly and helpful, all at a very reasonable price!
The food was outstanding, and the service staff was polite and knowledgeable. I would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone. I will definitely be returning!
I've been to Courses several times now, and each time it has been consistently excellent! The restaurant is a part of the Culinary Institute of Michigan and is actually run by students. Students are the hostesses, bartenders, servers, and chefs (of course with supervision. The restaurant is open at various times during the year, so it is important to check online for dates they are open. Courses is open for lunch and dinner times. The drinks are delicious. I had a blueberry lemonade that was delicious, and completely made from scratch. We ordered an appetizer that was a pierogi. Oh, my gosh, it was SO delicious. So many flavors wrapped into them. I also ordered the small cream of mushroom soup, and it too, was fabulous. I shouldn't have ordered so much because I was starting to get full! The food is so rich and yummy that it is filling. I also had a salad and the club sandwich with fried. I ended up taking 3/4 of the sandwich home! A little about the staff ... they are really terrific. It is easy to tell that some of the kids are nervous, but they do such a good job. There is real attention to detail and flavors. One of the best meals I've had at a restaurant in Muskegon.
