Trip to Murfreesboro today... Good trip except it will probably be my last trip to Newk's at the Avenue. Food was great. Kids first time, they loved it. Foods great but the manager is rude. First time here, ordered my food and asked for a small soft drink. When the manager brought our food to us she state I did not pay for a soft drink and that the small cups are for water only. I informed her that this was what I asked for and was given. Newk?s is always a favorite of ours! Love their chicken salad! Wide selection of sandwiches, salads, soups. Great pizzas! Amazing cakes yummy Rice Krispies bars. Their service is always friendly fast! In The Avenue, so it?s perfect for a break in your shopping adventure! Plan to visit Newk?s soon enjoy lunch or dinner!

When the manager brought our food to us she state I did not pay for a soft drink and that the small cups are for water only. I informed her that this was what I asked for and was given. She responded that the young lady had only worked there for 3 days and didn?t know. Well being from Ohio I didn?t know either. She showed me the receipt and made me feel like a criminal. I felt she was treating me this way because of my skin color. I told her this was not my problem and she responded it?s not mine either. She did identify herself as the manager. I was shock by the immaturity of a manager. I am in Nashville 4 times a year and will never be back.
My wife and I both ordered a drink. Cashier didn't ring up our drinks. When we asked for our cups, she said we didn't order drinks. We told her that we had both ordered a drink, so she ran up two drinks and we paid again. The food seems to have gotten smaller and more expensive. We used to love this place, but between bad service and declining value, we may not be going back.
Ordered pizza and salad for pickup. Pizza box had greasy macaroni stuck on the bottom which transferred to my hand. Then while eating the salad noticed a chunk of dirt, yes real dirt, in the salad. Disappointed. Last time I leave a tip for pick up.

They give me sideways dirty looks, pour them together, leave it out to serve, and brew a fresh batch (in the dirty urn). Never came and said a word to me or my table during or after. Come on, guys, train your people with some customer service oriented training! No shade thrown due to age, the whole staff was younger (just a description), which I know is the reality of food service since that's what I've done for 20+ years!
