The Onam sadhya was to die for... and with some beautiful sitar music, and Rahul, Jigar and everyone's hospitality, our meal was such a memorable one!
We visit South of Vindhyas for the special meals ..especially the onam sadhya. Chef has magic in his hands. The food is very yumm. The payasams very authentic. The entire sadhya was very good. It’s value for money. The staff is extremely courteous. The live Sitar music in the background and the decor add to the Ambience.
Very nicely service nd testy food. Veg thali it is excellent. All staff is very clean service. special thanks to Mr Harshad sir and team.
Interesting elements of décor, fabulous food and service with a personal touch. The path leading to the restaurant was filled with numerous interesting elements such as swathes of fabric in lovely traditional patterns, replica of a wooden houseboat, statue of a Kathakali dancer, an ornate bicycle, etc. The restaurant had an ethnic and cozy feel with wooden furniture, lanterns, instruments of Indian classical music, etc. For our meal, we'd ordered bhuna ghost, home style vegetable curry, spicy tangy prawns, rice and appams. The food was splendid. The bhuna ghost was cooked to perfection with the mutton well done in a thick and delicious gravy. The home style vegetable curry (naadan curry) was creamy and subtly flavoured. The fresh, soft appams were made at a live counter which the staff set up right next to our table so we could have them hot off the counter. We ended our meal with filter coffee, which was milky and yet had a robust flavour without being bitter. The food was served on banana leaves cut to size and placed in each plate, which isn't a common sight. The staff encouraged to use our fingers and eat in the traditional Indian way. They even brought a bowl full of warm water to the table to help us wash our hands just before the meal even though they had given us sanitiser when we'd entered. The staff was friendly and attentive without being overbearing or intrusive in any way. Bachan, the restaurant incharge, was constantly around to make sure everything was in place and that we had a good time. Chef Bala graciously came over to our table to answer questions we had about options in the menu, help us with recommendations and understand any requests for customisation. From getting beverages on the table within minutes of being seated to bringing a washing bowl over to the table and always being around to serve helpings, Rahul (the staff member serving us) managed everything so promptly and efficiently that we never had to ask him for anythingTaking plenty of photographs, relishing the food and being pampered by the staff, we truly enjoyed ourselves. The food was fantastic and the staff made our experience even better with their attention to detail as well as their warm behaviour.
Went there in a spur of a moment decision as most restaurants in Mumbai were not allowing to dine in. But when I spoke to the manager to make reservations, he was most kind and we booked a table for 5. The restaurant is extremely beautiful. Centrally located within The Orchid, the feel is very rustic and makes you feel very comfortable. We went while the IPL was on, hence tried the new IPL cocktails dedicated to individual teams. They were delicious. Tried some of the best authentic South Indian dishes ever and I was pleasantly surprised with the quality and the quantity. Great care was taken by our host Mr. Rahul M.S. and kudos to him to serve us throughout the evening with a smile. Hoping to get back to the restaurant again once things go back to normal. For the food and definitely for the hospitality.
