Vegan brekky now no longer comes with pumpkin and baked beans (despite being advertised as such they just piled on even MORE tomatoes. Such a shame as this place was my go to for brekky and I recommended to everyone. I also saw online someone else’s recent experience with their vegan pizza and it was appalling. Previous review Have always really enjoyed the breakfast and coffee at Swell. They often have lemon vegan cake too which is amazing. So over raw balls. My breakfast spot of choice in Perth for sure :

Instead of simply removing ingredients like eggs or feta from dishes, they are now replacing them with pumpkin, beans, and mushrooms. The service was excellent, and the food was delicious. The only downside is that the food can take a while to be served, so be prepared to wait!

When I asked for a vegan option because the original meal contained eggs and feta, the waiter was unsure and consulted the chef. The chef said they could simply give me more of the other ingredients like avocado, rocket, and pumpkin. I requested to replace these with something else like a hashbrown, beans, or mushrooms, and they allowed me to have mushrooms instead. The restaurant has a nice view of the water. Overall, I might not return in a hurry but it was nice to have vegan options available.

The vegan cake... read more After my last two experiences at the restaurant, I have to agree with another reviewer who pointed out the lack of knowledge about vegan options. The vegan cake was served with milk cream and the avocado was rock hard. Half of the mint leaves in the salad were wilted and the previously delicious lemon cake was now crusty and tough. The service was slow and disappointing. The vegan breakfast no longer includes pumpkin and baked beans as advertised, instead they just added more tomatoes. This is a disappointment as I used to love this place for breakfast and would recommend it to everyone. I also read a recent review about their vegan pizza being terrible. Despite these recent downsides, I have always enjoyed the breakfast and coffee at Swell. They often have amazing lemon vegan cake and tasty raw balls. This was my go-to breakfast spot in Perth.
