We were greeted in an extremely friendly manner. The ambiance is authentic and lovingly done, with a touch of family business feeling. Rüen-Thai has won a number of awards, and rightly so. The crab chips (on the house) were crispy flavorful, served with a peanut curry dip. The spring rolls were crispy and delicate (worlds removed from what is often a soggy affair). We both had duck curries. The red was quite spicy (a... View all feedback.
What Joachim May doesn't like about Ruen Thai:
Decent food, tried only one dish, and good decoration, but very bad with the wines. There is a long wine list….out of stock!!! Asked three wines and I’ve got same answer: “sorry….sold yesterday the last bottle” Yeah I know how works, I’m a sommelier and in the hospitality industry too! Overpriced and overrated View all feedback.
Been in Munich for 4 days and needed a little break from the Barvarian food and this little Thai restaurant was recommended to me. It wasn't the absolute best I've ever had in the world (yes I travel a lot), but it was quite good. The papaya salad was nice and spicy per our request, the yellow curry with chicken was warm and yummy and the vegetable pad thai was tasty. If ever in the area again, I would visit. Another note, the owner is a wine fanatic and there are some wines in his cellar/wine list that are wine which are very difficult, if not impossible to find. I'm talking $500-$1,000 bottles an up! I was amazed at the selection and could not believe what he carried. WOW!
Had a wonderful evening here. The food was delicious, the wine was special and the service was brilliant. Love from Ireland
I love this place. The waiters are always very friendly and you feel very welcome. The food is excellent and I especially enjoy the amazing wine selection. This place is perfect for a business dinner or a romantic evening. The prices are absolutely adequate.
We are great fans of that place and it's a Thai landmark in Munich. We go here maybe once a month and never got disappointed, neither with the food north the friendly and consistent service quality. Also the wine list is quite remarkable and it will take a while to go through. You can get a Silvaner by the glass but also a award winning Chardonnay from Argentina...My personal tip would be the Deer , spicy. it's unique and excellent and comes in 4 different varieties. But careful it can be authentic spicy and very hot but usually the waiters will ask you about your desire. Appetizer are also classic , we love the spring rolls and also the thai papaya salad and octopus salad. The place is not downtown at all but totally worth to visit , I hope that they will stay around for a very long time.
Housed in a pretty building in Munich's West End within easy walking distance from several hotels, Ruen Thai delivers authentic Thai cuisine in a uniquely Munich fashion. My wife LOVED the carafe of wine offered in lieu of a mere glass, and she when she ordered Massamun Curry off-menu she was greeted with a warm "of course, we can make anything " - and it was GOOD. My Deer with Red Curry was medium spicy, delicious and not gamey at all. DO NOT feel weird about ordering a fine Munich beer to accompany your food at Thai Ruen, because while they are authentic, they speak and serve German-"ically.
