Our waiter really accompanied us all night. There were only perfect recommendations and really very good food. Can only recommend it!

The evening was beautiful despite unfulfilled expectations. The KOI has a feel-good ambience. The imagination was lacking when eating – at very high prices (especially in meat dishes). Both the deer and the chicken were okay, but on average, the vegetable mix was rather boring. Wasabi to the deer's court is suitable, but was only to taste pointwise. I recommend the Sashimi. That's why unfortunately only a good with restriction.

A very nice restaurant with a fantastic meal in a nice ambience. The wine card is sufficient and exquisite.

Highly recommended! The Koi restaurant in Munich is a winner all around. Superb Asian cuisine of the highest caliber, beautifully presented and a true culinary highlight. The service is attentive, professional, and incredibly warm. The stylish ambiance creates the perfect atmosphere for a special evening…whether for a private or business occasion. We will definitely be back!

Koi Munich feels less like a culinary destination and more like a carefully packaged echo of its once-relevant Los Angeles predecessor. Unfortunately, what might have worked years ago in a different city and cultural context translates here as imitation rather than innovation. The cuisine itself is competent but entirely uninspired—formulaic sushi at premium prices, presented with an air of exclusivity that the food simply does not earn. One is left wondering how Michelin could even consider mentioning a place where technique is safe, flavors are predictable, and creativity appears to have been outsourced along with the concept. What Koi truly excels at is atmosphere—not in the gastronomic sense, but as a social stage. It’s a magnet for Munich’s “wannabe luxury” crowd, where being seen matters more than what’s on the plate. In that sense, it’s perfectly aligned with today’s social-media-driven dining culture, where hype outweighs substance and Instagram aesthetics trump culinary integrity. If you’re looking for exceptional Japanese cuisine, this is not the place. If, however, you enjoy overpaying for average sushi while observing a curated display of aspirational wealth, Koi Munich delivers exactly that.
