After six nights sweet and teutonish kitchen we were ready for something else for our last night in a few. barfly and kitchen offered us the perfect food and th... read more After six nights sweet and teutonish kitchen we were ready for something else for our last night in a few. barfly and kitchen offered us the perfect food and the perfect atmosphere for the last night of our slum week. this is a fantastic Italian restaurant with a well-stocked bar and a cozy seating area. the music (crooner earlier and today) and the ambient lighting were well judged - music not too loud, light not too bright or the kind of effort to see darkness, often sought in the name of the atmosphere. this was a pleasant change to a series of other rather bright culinary experiences in a few. a family with several generations, an older couple and a few groups of friends of different ages belonged to the customer circle. Here too, it was nice to have this variety in terms of the publicity: a series of other “Fine Dining” restaurants we tried really gave them the feeling that the asymmetric haircut staff would like them one by giving them a place. There was nothing here. the personal was friendly and knew with the menu, and I would like to have passed on a meal or drink if I had been alone in such an environment. a pregnant woman ate alone at a table close to us and became as attentive, but never intrusive as we were. this place is a bit off the beaten paths near the museum quarter and was not as busy as it would have deserved, but that made it really peaceful. eating: eating was simply excellent and a reasonable journey. we had three walks, one bottle of wine, two bottled water and two digestifs each after eating (we didn't want to change) and it cost about 110 pounds, so if they take gins tonic and less they choose with thought they could have something really nice for two people for about 80 pounds. the pasta and risotto appetizers were obviously homemade and delicious - there was no sticky constipation at both. there was a soothing gap between the walks and everything tasted fresh. we had both saltimbocca, which was perfect. the pork was tenderly cooked, the parmaschinken around crispy and the salbeisauce was wonderfully picant. the wine selection was a good mix of the highlights deutschlands (riesling on the more expensive side) and some soothing great names from italien and france. we had a bottle very pleasant barbera for about 25 euro. both the tiramisu and the chocolate-melting middle-cake desserts were also homemade and again, what is sometimes difficult to achieve with this type of food, in no way difficult to taste, but had a real taste. after three walks we were more tired than awfully full, and this was just so nice that we would rather stay on a few drinks than try to find another bar with hendricks gin and without loud music. I cannot recommend this hotel enough.

Barfly and Kitchen provided us with the perfect meal and atmosphere for the last night of our honeymoon. This is a fantastic Italian restaurant with well stocked bar and cosy seating area. The music (crooners past and present) and the ambient lighting were well judged music not too loud, lights neither too bright nor the sort of straining to see darkness often gone in for in the name of atmosphere. This was a pleasant change from a number of other rather garish dining experiences in Munich. The clientele included a family with a number of generations, an older couple and a few groups of friends of varying ages. Again, it was nice to have that variety in terms of clientele: a number of other 'fine dining ' restaurants we tried really made you feel that the asymmetric hair cutted staff are doing you a favour to let you have a seat there. There was none of that here. The staff were friendly and knowledgeable about their menu and I 'd have been happy to stop in for a meal or a drink if I 'd been solo in this kind of environment. A pregnant woman on her own ate at a table near us and received the same attentive but never obtrusive service that we did. This place is a little off the beaten track near the Museum district and wasn 't as busy as it deserved to be, but that made it really peaceful. The pasta and risotto starters were obviously homemade and delicious there was no sticky stodginess about either of them. There was a reassuring gap between courses and everything tasted fresh. We both had saltimbocca, which was perfect. The pork was cooked tender, the parma ham around it crispy and the sage sauce deliciously piquant. The wine selection was a good mix of the highlights of Germany (riesling on the more expensive side) and some reassuring big names from Italy and France. We had a bottle of very pleasant Barbera for about 25 euros. Both the tiramisu and the chocolate melting middle cake desserts were also homemade and again, hard to achieve sometimes with this kind of food, were not in any way stodgy but had real flavour. Three courses left us replete rather than horribly full, and the place was just so nice that we stayed on for a few drinks rather than try to find another bar with Hendricks gin and no loud music. I cannot recommend this place enough.
