However, during... read more I was hoping for a better experience at this restaurant. During my last visit over a year ago, I was impressed by the portion size and service. However, during my recent visit last week, only the service was above average. The meal I had seemed almost identical to my previous one, but this time it was disappointing. The portions were smaller and not as satisfying. I had a delicious steak with gravy, flower cabbage, mashed potatoes, as well as small portions of boar, carrots, and broccoli. I also had bread and a glass of red wine, followed by Dutch apple strudel and ice cream. The dessert was generous and filled me up. Overall, the food felt basic and not very creative. The chef seemed to be working hard, even serving tables at times, but there were delays in food being served. The waitstaff was efficient, but I wondered how they would cope if the restaurant was full. Maybe having a dedicated maitre d' would improve the service. These are just my observations, and I may return in a year to see if there have been any changes.

Service w... read more I am impressed at this motel restaurant. I am here on Friday night, the waitress said that Friday Saturday nights are never full. I can't imagine why. Service was great and instantaneous. I ordered my drink and the wine came quickly. I had two...glasses of De Bortolli Cabernet Shiraz over the course of my dinner. I had a glorious soft and buttery garlic bread, followed by a Scotch fillet steak with mashed potatoes, peas, beans, cauliflower, carrots, with the steak cooked medium well. I was very happy with the meal. It was an honest country sized meal that was well cooked. I was very surprised that I was the only diner between 6.00 pm and 7.00 pm on a Friday night. Come on Mudgee, keep these good restaurants operating. I was too full for dessert, but I am certain it would have been worth the money, in a nice country way.
