Palate - Mudgee
Palate
Description
Palate, a restaurant in Mudgee that offers a seafood-oriented menu, received mixed reviews from its patrons. Some diners were disappointed with the service, portion sizes, and lack of atmosphere. They felt that the food was average and overpriced, advising others to explore other dining options in the area. However, there were also positive reviews praising the friendly and attentive staff, generous portion sizes, and delicious food. Guests were impressed by the quality of the dishes, particularly the steak and seafood platters. Overall, Palate seems to offer a variety of experiences depending on individual preferences and expectations.

We showed up at 8:15pm (we had a booking at 8:30pm), and they told us the kitchen was closed.
Definitely a restaurant not to be missed one visit in the area. Food and service is lovely
Convenient location (not far from city centre). Good food (had Scallops with asparagus, lamb shank and chicken wrapped in bacon/stuffed with cheese). All for $74. Waitress was very polite and attentive. The chair I was sitting on though was a bit rickety. May need to check all chairs are stable. Will recommend others who intend to visit Mudgee in the future to eat here.
A hidden gem. We were sceptical, as the restaurant is attached to a motel. And we were happily proven wrong! Great bread starter (Cobb although the Bruschetta at the next table looked fantastic). Great local wine list- our Cab Sav was superb), delicious mains (fillet and lamb in the photo). Thank you too for the great service. Whew, what a gem.
Palate has reopened and it’s amazing. We went to the restaurant because of the reviews and it didn’t disappoint. The chilli Crab was so yummy and it sure was chilli. Complements to the chef for committing to the chilli and living up to the name. We had the Lamb and Steak and it was cooked to perfection and the sides were just as good. The serves were so big we couldn’t fit dessert in. The restaurant was busy with all tables occupied. I’d suggest booking. Best dinner during our 3 night stay,
