We had rented a little cottage just up the road from here and seeing the line every day told me this must be someplace special. We walked over (but they do have parking) and ordered one sandwich with chorizo, and one with ham. Also just had to try that campfire hot chocolate. Everything was incredible. Though there was a bit of line, they kept it moving. The seating was great, but you could also take it for a little... View all feedback.
What summerhols2014 doesn't like about Maegden:
Visited on a recommendation £25 later 4 watery coffees ,cheese toasty poor , brownies average took 30 minutes and ignored because they were filming an Ad no customer service poor experience View all feedback.
My wife and I have been regular goers to Maegden since it was the wee caravan next to the Giants Causeway. We travel down from Belfast at least once a month for a grilled cheese and bonfire hot chocolate! Now it is in Bushmill 's it 's even better providing seating and selling local produce from across the Island. The girls who run it are absolute Angel 's and so, so friendly and talkative. Impossible to describe to folk just how good a toastie can be, but trust me, it 's well worth the hours travel and paying a few quid. Their bonfire hot chocolate isn 't overly sweet nor does it have that artificial taste you would get from the likes of Costa/Starbucks. The marshmallow fluff they use on top is made by themselves and torched perfectly. It 's 09.40am and my belly is now rumbling for a Maegden!!!! Side note: their candied jalepenos are to die for! An absolute 10/10 I recommend it to everyone!
I go regularly as I live 5 minutes away, my go too in the town for coffee and always get a friendly chat. I often go alone and just chill with a coffee and pick up breadsticks ALL the cheese. I haven't had a toastie yet as I like to go in the morning or late afternoon so just not timed it correctly however everyone raves about them locally. a must go!
The best cheesy toasty grilled sandwiches on the planet with lip smacking homemade pickles!!!! Yummy bonfire hot chocolate is not to be missed. Also a delicious cheese counter deli delights
Shades of the late lamented Dean Deluca here! Finally, a proper, delicious deli where we can get real quality and unusual food to go in my favourite place. I practically cried with joy when I realised how good this little emporium was! On my first foray I bought a little cheese for home first rate. Then 3 weeks back a friend and I bought a selection of bread, cheese, olives and pastries to carry back to base as a lunch. The yuminess of our DIY picnic was superb and when comparing it to what we would have got (and spent) elsewhere in town for an average sit down lunch we actually chuckled. Last week, I took a group of my more discriminating relatives from afar, to pick up some of the famous toasted sandwiches with tea, buns and a bar of chocolate for a brunch. Oh.... my.... word! We felt like we were dining like kings. Blue skies, munching away on the banks of the Bush it didn 't get much better. Picture buttery, crunchy sourdough slices, cut generously thick and packed with hot oozing melted cheese. Flavour! They were accompanied by little pots of fresh pickled pear slices or fennel. Now THAT sweet and salty combo is genius ladies. I can see this place causing gridlock come summer. Yep it 's THAT good. If you 're a foodie this is the top place to visit on the north coast for my money. I feel I 've barely scratched the surface here and might have to return for more er research soon (so many cheeses so little time). Just delighted to have quality in such a beautiful spot. I wish we 'd taken photos but we were too busy scoffing the stuff!!! Ps Could I beg the girls to do a squeaky cheese with avocado and sweet chilli sauce too please? That would push it from 10 to 11/10!
Hide away near Giant’s Causeway. Looking for a great sandwich, we tried the original grilled cheese. Mine had chorizo, my husband had ham on them. Pickles on the side we great. This is an amazing sandwich. We regret that we didn’t try the coconut macaroon until we were on the road, because we would have bought 5 more. Amazing!
