Great pub meal on a Saturday night with friends, one of whom is a local and wisely suggested we book ahead. Very busy when we arrived, but service was friendly and efficient. Seated outside, we all enjoyed our meals in a lovely atmosphere. The Tavern provides a free bus pickup foor locals which meant we could all have a glass of wine (or 2) and not worry about driving.Fantastic little hideaway! What User doesn't like about Bushland Beach Tavern:
This has been our "local" since we moved here 16 years ago. It has had it's ups and downs in that time, but in the last couple of years it has been all down hill unfortunately. This establishment is unique in being the only tavern in Townsville where you can step from the back lawn directly onto the beach, and it has lovely views over the water and out to the islands, but it is badly let down by the food and the serv... We went for lunch on a Tuesday. Not much to recommend this place. Very basic premises, no atmosphere, no class. No table service. We had three attempts to place an order for four people because items on the menu were not available. The roast of the day was pretty awful. I had the penne with chicken and chorizo which was very tasty but super rich (greasy). We did not order steaks because the decent sized steaks were in the high $30s to early $40s. The coffee order was another ordeal. No decaf. No skim. No soy. No idea how to make or serve a piccolo. Coffees served cold. This place is an extreme example of the trend of grotty pubs with no service and no class charging outrageous prices for mediocre food. How can you possibly justify around $40 for a steak in a place has has the looks and atmosphere of of a second rate staff canteen?I will certainly not be going back.

A nice out of the way Tavern out of the way from the tourists well known to the locals - good place to relax and have a long lunch with some cold white wine
OUR MEAL WAS GREAT we good chat as the kids played in the pubs pool & kiddies playground!you think its just a suburban pub but it is also a quite motel by a lake STAFF FRIENDLLY ITS A COMUNITY atmosphere they provide a huge screen for state of origen football. families eat from a tin shed snags sausage sandwiches ect its very community orientated!
Lots of seating & open spaces for the kids to run around. We were there for Sunday lunch & there was a jumping castle set up for the kids that you didn't have to pay for which was awesome, there was a pool, kites & other things for the kids do do as well. The menu wasn't as extensive as I was expecting, but it still had quite a few options. I had an open grill sandwich & chips for $16 which was very nice! It was a pity tho the avocado had been left off. Service was fast for the number of people & friendly. Will definitely be back!
