Before we moved to NB I had searched for butcher shops to buy meat from and found this place on line. We are here now and living about 40 minutes away. So, we took a drive this Saturday and went for lunch. Will absolutely be coming back. I just had a Schnitzel on a bun and wife had soup of the day with Bratwurst sausages. They were Excellent. What Gian Cattaneo doesn't like about Gasthof Old Bavarian:
Grandson selected the Old Bavarian for his 15th Birthday Supper. We made reservations for 6PM; still took a while for our table….and then a while longer for the menus and some water. The server finally took our orders and then we waited and waited and waited. By 8PM, all we had been given was the complimentary bread and soup. We don’t blame the server or the kitchen staff. A very disappointing dining experienceThe ambience was authentic, service was very friendly and we happily settled down to wait for our meals.
Always excellent food. Great customer service, wonderful atmosphere A good place for a large family meal (reservations suggested) or a dinner for two Lunch and or supper you won't be disappointed
Mother and I came across this restaurant while traveling down a dusty road. I said, "Oh look Mom, a covered bridge, lets see where this takes us". That road took us to a badly paved road and so continued Eastward (Westward meant going home). Rolling fields of green and barns to boot. Our eyes fell upon this quaint chalet style restaurant. Thankfully, it was on a Saturday and they were open. (hours of operation are from Friday to Sunday). I asked them what their favorite dish was and they recommended the Hungarian Goulash. Let me say this, I was sold. I only get the goulash and nothing else. When you go, don't expect a fast food experience. Expect to wait for your meals to come. When you order a dinner, you will get a basket of various homemade breads, then eventually your soup, and then a salad, and then your main dinner. Expect to take some home. If you do go, bring Cash, they don't have debit machines. All their foods are local. Sit, relax and don't be in a rush. We live in a rush rush consumer world and this is one of those times we can sit back and take the time to smell the roses around us. I hope your experience will always be as memorable as mine. Took the family here one Sunday after church as my in-laws were visiting. They are Czech and we've toured Europe together. The restaurant reminded us of several pubs and restaurants we were in while in Germany, Czech, etc.The food was average but very expensive. A nice spot to visit once in a while but not to frequent for sure. Service was friendly.
