What Ema Ramos doesn't like about Malt Supper Club:
Disappointed. Staff were rude. Moving furniture over our heads. Didn't excuse themselves while doing it. Friend got kicked out by 6pm because his tattooed were showing. Very pretentious place. So many bad reviews and now I see why. A glass broke while my girlfriend picked it up her drink from the counter. Cut her hand and glass fell onto her leg and cut her. No one took responsibility for the glass breaking. Glass mu... View all feedback.
Hi, my friends and I dined at your club last night and were bitterly disappointed. My friend recommended booking a table due to a wonderful previous visit with a group of friends. During this visit they tried a number of meals from your menu; including a few of your pizzas (which did not feature a burnt base).Last night your staff were lovely and friendly; however, we waited well over an hour for our food and then received an over cooked pizza which we asked to return. A senior member of staff then returned to tell us that the bases are hand made and that is how they are made. To his credit, he did offer to swap the meal for a drink or another meal. We would have swapped the meal if it did not mean an extremely long wait for a replacement. Another staff member came to check on is later in the night, we told him that our other meal was lovely but we had had to pull the burnt sections off the base of the pizza. The toppings on the pizza were lovely. Sadly I am not able to include photos of the base.To be honest, I do not believe that we should have been billed for this item. We paid for it but will not return to your supper club.
The Malt Supper Club is a late night supper venue serving food into the early hours of the morning Available for private functions, hens night and the like the venue has several private rooms, booths, a large open space that can accommodate a dance floor or a long table degustation, as well as an upstairs area. Aimed at a mature clientele, the venue has an interesting feel from a bygone era but still maintaining a link to the present day as seen via the many sleek bars.A new chef straight from the UK, Stephen Rowe, has of experience and was waiting to try his new creations on us. The night featured dishes over the course of the night, including drinks. First off was bruschetta and this had loads of crunch but it was the caramelised balsamic vinegar which stole the show with lovely sweet tones to compliment the creamy feta, red onion, tomato and basil. Next was golden brown arancini balls filled with soft risotto and gooey stringy cheese and delicious shredded pork. Twice cooked pork belly with a delicious apple jus was the next dish presenting tender flesh, crunchy perfectly salted crackling and thin crispy root vegetable chips. The fourth dish was fish cakes but these weren’t ordinary. A golden brown crunchy crumb encasing smoked cod without being too fishy, the dash of lemon and creamy pea puree were perfect partners to this dish. Lastly, we finished with a thin crunchy tempura batter encasing goat’s cheese, though a tad too salty for my liking. However, the honey orange blossom was a stroke of genius and paired perfectly with the goat’s cheese. The tapas items available may look simplistic but have been taken to a new level without the pretentiousness. There’s a range of alcoholic drinks to choose from and we were well looked after by the staff. The food is delicious and not short on flavour, subtlety crafted dishes to enjoy late in the night or early hours with friends for company.
