Good value house style Indonesian kitchen in front of location decor is very common, but if you can look past it is a good feed.
When they were looking for authentic spicy Thai dishes of this restraurant tickled all crates. from fish cake to pfotensalat to lard near...yum yum and yum. so happy they are open post subiaco market. authentic favors without a hole in her. you feel back in Thailand.
Came to dinner tonight and was surprised by the fact that it was replaced by thai restaurant called long lae. we realized after we open the menu that was given to us. no wonder that mbak sri doesn't welcome us anymore, wondering what happened to her and her family.
Great location in the middle of mt lawley and very easy to park, as the restaurants in the residential area. Obviously, the locals enjoy this convenientness, a restaurant close to, how many seemed to go from close to and. everyone seemed to know the owner robert. robert welcomes her at the arrival and is very polite. the decor is dated and could do with an upgrade. fresh color etc. eating is authentic Indonesian. not many of these restaurants in perth nowadays. I was told that robert's wife cooks everything. it was delicious. big bonus in the location, byo this will always be more difficult to do in perth restaurants. service good that is a hard to evaluate. robert is certainly a personality and most of the time will be very pleasant and attentive, but sometimes he goes mia and they end up to go and find someone to get an additional piece cute or a glass. no biggie with this but it sometimes feels like they have a fawlty tower moment. the restaurant can be noisy, but it is a cheaper place to eat, with good quality eat and in a perfect location more positive than negative. Excellent for family or groups of friends can be difficult, however, if they are a few as it can be loud. they would recommend to go here as I am sure they enjoy that he experience.
We recently returned to Sweet Java (this was our 3rd visit in 6 months). Rob as always a warm welcoming character showed us to a table for 3 (Hubbie, myself and our youngest daughter were dining on this occasion). We ordered Beef satays for entree...(2 each was a nice teaser for the coming main course). We ordered Beef Rendang, Gado Gado Nasi Goreng. Food as always was superb top quality and very authentic Indonesian. Looking forward to our next visit already. Next time we plan to introduce older daughter, her partner and our grandkids to Sweet java... Our grandkids have been there with us before so they will enjoy their 2nd trip to Sweet Java.
