I have no words. Manager was nice but that's where it ends. 2 hr service and no food. I finally was promised 4 times that food was coming. What we got it was cold. Over priced. Bland. Overcooked. I left. And I was still presented a bill for over $200. A big shame for a business to fail so badly. I have never given a worse review in my life. Time to avoid this place with all costs. I have reviewed hundreds of restaurants and I have never been so disappointed in my life.
Four of us went for dinner and I have to say it was the WORST. It became more apparent to us why all the other restaurant and bars in the area were fully booked and this place was hurting for people. We sat and it didn't feel comfy. The lighting wasn't helpful for the ambience and the place seemed stark, even with its congestion of tables. We started off with two orders of the pan bread which I would describe as a low budget version of the one at Jack Astor's. It was lukewarm and the cheese was melted all concentrated in the middle, but it wasn't even like oven melted, more like put in the microwave melted. We didn't order any cocktails because none appealed to us. If we hadn't visited some wineries before hand, we wouldn't have ordered the bottle that we did and probably just drank water. Lucky for this place, we knew which bottle to order. I ordered the chicken parm, hubby ordered the Cesar salad risotto balls, our girlfriend had the seafood pasta and our girlfriend's hubby had the spaghetti. Chicken parm: I was impressed with the chicken parm itself, mainly because I had incredibly low expectations. The pasta in Pomodoro sauce was bland. The vegetables were okay. Cesar salad: store bought dressing all over romaine lettuce. Bland. Risotto balls: bland. Seafood pasta: bland. Spaghetti: surprised to see it came with meatballs, which were dry. Spaghetti was bland. After all this, I can comfortably say that we were lied to: nothing is made fresh. In addition to the lie, we asked for chili peppers and told they had none. A few minutes later, another table asked for it, they got it. I don't recommend this place for food or service and even if you're starving. Zero stars if it was possible.
I will preface this by acknowledging we had a long day by the time we arrived at Pomodoro. The manager and the server were very nice and polite and were very accommodating of our 2 year old. We chose Pomodoro in part because it was open on a Tuesday when many of the restaurants in the county are not. The restaurant was clean and the patio was pleasant. My first impression was that we were one of two seatings in the restaurant when we arrived. We chose to sit outside and we were brought a high chair for our daughter, a real high chair, not one of your standard wooden ones. Points for this. My next impression was that the menu's we were given were quite abridged from what we saw online. There were very few main's. Not a huge deal. Wine list was pretty good. We ordered a bottle of Chianti after asking if we could cork the bottle if we did not finish it during dinner. We ordered a few starters and a children's pasta to begin with. The pasta came out fine and in reasonable time but our appetizers took a while. Cesar salad was average, garlic cheese bread was cold and tasted a bit stale. Nobody came to check on us until long after we finished our appetizers. Nobody offered to pour our wine. We finally had to go inside to ask the server if we could order our main courses. We ordered a chicken parmigiana and the porcetta. The menu online, which I had to read during our long wait for service to get a description of this dish described it as a stuffed pork belly although when I checked with the server she suggested it was a pork chop. We waited almost an hour for our main courses after ordering them. At the 40 min mark the Manager came outside to ask if we had been forgotten and we said we were getting pretty hungry as our main course had not arrived but it took almost another 20 mins. Needless to say the main's were not good. Frozen chicken cutlet with some cheese on top was the parmigiana. My porcetta was a small piece of pork belly no larger than a lamb chop which was so dry and overcooked it was practically inedible. Potatoes were cold and greasy. Green beans were fine. These were 28 dollar main courses and sadly I've had better at East Side Mario's when I was in school for half the price. For a tourism destination like Prince Edward County that prides itself on locally sourced food, this was a realdisappointment.
Friendly staff, accommodating. Food was tasty. I enjoyed the sirloin steak and the Mac and cheese!
Slowest service I have ever experienced! I do not recommend this place. I felt bad watching all the customers coming in knowing they were going to be sitting around for a very long time to get service, we sat for an hour and a half and are still waiting for our dinner. Never coming back again
