I’ve passed by this restaurant at least four times while traveling from Carroll County to Montgomery and back. I always wanted to give it a try, and I finally did this past Valentine's Day weekend. I was not disappointed! The atmosphere is fantastic—very cozy—and the staff is friendly. The food is some of the best I’ve had in Maryland. The winter beets salad, cream of crab soup, scallops, and Appalachian duck all earned a perfect 5/5.

It's difficult to tell from the exterior, but this restaurant is currently closed. Please call ahead before visiting, as they are in the process of hiring staff and appear to be reopening under a new name.

Brick Ridge used to be my go to in Mt Airy when Todd owns it. I am not sure when came under new management but it is unfortunate. They no longer do monthly menus. We were not the only ones surprised by the changes. We came as a family of six people, 5 adults and 1 toddler. When we were seated I asked for a booster. It wasn't until we were ordering trying to figure out what to feed my niece that the waitress was like ohh do you want a kids menu? When you ask for a booster seat for a child the kids menu should be second nature. Unfortunately they were out of a few things in the menu when we tried ordering. Our family ordered 2 appetizers... the alligator and fried cauliflower. Both were very salty. My dad had the pork chop and I had the shrimp scallops and grits. Both we very salty as well and the grits were not cooked all the way... was like eating sand. The Brussels sprouts were stewed together with tomatoes... very mushy. They could have roasted them and got better results. My brother had a steak salad which he said was good. My mom and SIL both had the large ribeye which they liked. We ended up ordering my niece french fries and a Caesar salad. Unfortunately the fried were extremely salty as well. This seemed to be a problem with the chef that night.... so much soo I barely touched my $30 salt lick dinner. We can say the desserts were good. We got cheesecake, peanut butter chocolate pie and apple crisp.. Best part of the dinner... we even joked that it wasn't salty! Overall, at this point I don't feel like I would recommend Brick Ridge with the current chef. The meal for all 6 of us was close to $400 with tip and not worth it. Very unfortunate.
