Ocean Basket Hartenbos - Mossel Bay

They rushed us and we had to ask for standard condiments. Marchelle didn’t return for another drink order. We called the manager, but he made no effort to rectify the situation. Eventually, the waiter came back to clear the table without even asking if we wanted to order anything else. It was clear he just wanted us to leave. Meanwhile, the kitchen was still fully operational and busy preparing other meals. As locals, we have always supported this establishment, but due to this poor service and attitude, I will not recommend Ocean Basket Hartenbos to anyone!

Avoid this restaurant at all costs; the food is extremely disappointing and not worth the money. The lemon butter sauce tasted like something altered with yellow paint—definitely no butter in it. The fish was overcooked, and the snoek portions contained nothing but scraps that are usually discarded, like bones, skin, and fins. You end up paying for this worthless waste. Overall, it was a very negative experience.

We have been visiting Hartenbos OB for years during the Buff season and have always enjoyed great service and food. However, yesterday was a significant disappointment for our group of five. The kingklip was mushy and unappetizing, seemingly frozen for a long time. The 135g sole was mostly bones, with only a small piece of fish. On a positive note, the waitress was attentive and apologized for the experience. The fish and chips were good, but overall, the meal did not meet our expectations.

Very disappointing. Loadshedding was on during our visit and we were told they cannot serve chips or grilled food. All fine loadshedding ends at 20h00, we then order a seafood platter with chips but they are not prepared to switch on the fryers to make the chips as they close at 21h00. Mr Owner, we all have businesses and suffer because of Eskom, but make a plan man, its not as if you are selling cheap food from a street corner.

The Lady at the counter/door was not very accommodating, very abrupt.. however the service of my waiters we outstanding.
