What m doesn't like about Bartolomeu Dias Museum Complex:
A good portrayal of historical facts ... not many 'museum ' displays .... unfortunately the few glass case displays are in one 's own shadow. Due to the lighting issues one had difficulty viewing and reading the information in the glass display cases. View all feedback.
It's important to recognize the effort that has been put into transforming this space into a distinctive venue by including a boat in the exhibit.
There are some renovations happening in the museum area, and the sign at the gate stated "staff only," which created a bit of confusion. Fortunately, a security guard was there to give us directions. There is parking available very close to the museum, along with several nearby restaurants. The admission fee for the museum is R30 per person. It’s a small museum that showcases South Africa's maritime history, including a replica ship that is certainly the main highlight. Visitors can board the wooden ship, which adds to the experience. Additionally, there are a few other attractions on the grounds, such as a post office tree, a boot, old cottages, a fountain, and beautiful views of the beach. It is definitely worth a visit if you're in the area.
The experience was satisfactory, and the replica ship was quite impressive. However, beyond that, there isn't much to captivate your interest unless you're a devoted historian with a lot of time to spare for reading.
It feels like you're travelling back in time when putting your feet on this historic vessel. A must-see when visiting Mosselbay.
They busy revamp the whole museum. So you can really enjoy the whole story
