What 3Kevin F (6 1 year ago on Google doesn't like about Ormeggio At The Spit:
Ormeggio is best avoided. Here is an example of a fancy Sydney restaurant that has become wound up in their own self importance and forgotten why people come to restaurants. We were seated next to a loud table, the low ceiling and lack of acoustic treatment was an ever present annoyance. Some of the food was excellent. Some of the food was very poor. The tuna steak schnitzel was amazing and the stand out. Overall the... View all feedback.
A Delightful Journey Through Italy! This restaurant offers an impressive four-course meal along with antipasti that beautifully showcases classic Italian flavors. The antipasti is a bit of a lucky dip, and we ended up trying a Parmesan cracker with cold tomato soup. I’m not usually a fan of either, but the creamy soup was bursting with flavor, featuring sweet and spicy tomatoes instead of the usual tanginess. The highlight of the evening for me was the Tomato Tagliolini with scarlet prawns, almonds, and chives—a fantastic bisque base really brought the dish together. The charcoal wagyu and veal tonnato were also exceptional. We opted for the additional scanner crab risotto, which was visually striking when served in the crab shell, but unfortunately, the rice was undercooked, making it less enjoyable than the other dishes. Overall, it was a wonderful meal accompanied by lovely views.
My partner and I visited this restaurant to celebrate my birthday, and we ordered the Taste of Italy degustation. The food was exceptionally unique, rich, and beautifully presented. My favorite dish was the truffle pasta, which was indulgent and truly a delight. The service was excellent as well.
The ambiance was very relaxing, warm, and casual, making me feel right at home without being too fancy or uptight. The service was excellent, and we appreciated the wine recommendations from the sommelier. Our meal, excluding coffee, lasted nearly four hours. The portions are small, but by the end, we were completely satisfied. My only complaint was that despite making a reservation in advance and specifically requesting a window seat, we were seated in the middle of the restaurant, even though there were a couple of tables available by the window.
Love the service and the truffle dishes. Booked a late lunch here. Although we were not get the spot we want but lucky to move to the widow seat once it’s available. This didn’t happen to us in other bayview restaurant. Dish recommend from staff is helpful. Will recommend this place to friends.
We tried the little trip to Italy tasting menu. High light of the night was the cod, I really liked that one, different layers of flavors. My husband liked the beef tartare, kingfish taco very much. Only thing I think that can be improved was that some of the dishes were a little bit too salty, eg. cappuccino soup and one stuffed pasta dish. Service was good too. Great fine dining experience.
