We recently attended a family wedding at this restaurant, and despite the rain causing disruptions to our outdoor plans, the event still went smoothly. The venue exceeded our expectations in person, especially with its beautiful hallway leading to the bathrooms. The views of Sydney's port were stunning as well. Although the waiting staff seemed a little inexperienced, we are unsure if they were hired specifically for weddings.
Stunning harbour views above all set as the sun. Food and service were good. There are some room boundaries for large groups our were around 120. Pre-dinner drinks were on the lawn and the narrow balcony. Not sure what would have happened if it rained. The interior was beautiful, although the tables had to be taken up all the room and removed for dancing. It is a beautiful location and charming buildings, but probably more convenient for smaller groups than ours.
The location is stunning, but unfortunately, that's where the positives end. Weddings seem to be their primary focus, with the café being a lackluster afterthought. The waiting staff are unfriendly and unenthusiastic, and the food is moderately overpriced. If I'm paying over $70 per person, I shouldn't have to constantly ask for menus, wine lists, or drinks. Do yourself a favor and skip this place.
The Athol Hall is located in Mosman with stunning views over the port of Sydney and is a perfect wedding location. The service is excellent, food excellent and the Sydney climate also allows to take the full advantage of the terrain. Be careful with low flying helicopters during... the vows! Very recommended.
Don't rely on the posted opening hours at this restaurant. Despite claiming to be open at 11am on a Tuesday, they were still closed. The lights were on and people were visible inside, but the door remained locked. When we asked a man who seemed to work there about getting coffee, he simply said they wouldn't be opening. It's disappointing, as we have enjoyed visiting this place in the past, but we won't go out of our way to come back next time we're in the area.
