Excellent service and attitude from the owners. They were very excited to share their food with us. It is a walk in place where you order from the counter and they bring out your food. I had the coconut shrimp and my son the halibut sticks. The side of vegetables was amazing. I don't like carrots generally, but these were seasoned and cooked perfectly, making me a huge fan. What Rene Montes doesn't like about Locogrinz Hawaiian Bbq:
Got the short ribs with Mac salad and rice. Ribs were really good. A lil greasy. Mac salad; don't do it. Rice was ok I guess. Ordered to go. Container has no separate so all the food gets mixed inside. The protein was the main star but i feel like you can judge a Hawaiian spot by their Mac. Also they have Tabasco, instead of Sriracha, damn Idaho. View all feedback.
This was my first time visiting this restaurant, and I can assure you it won’t be my last! The place is charming—spotless and well-organized. The counter staff were friendly and offered plenty of insights about the menu. We sampled the Katsu Curry (panko-breaded chicken with green curry), BBQ Certified Angus Beef, Spicy Island Teriyaki, Coconut-Battered Shrimp with Thai Peanut Sauce, and Smoked Pulled Pork. For sides, we chose Noodles and Brown Rice. Everything was absolutely amazing! The beef was perfectly charred and tender, the pork was juicy with just the right hint of smokiness, the shrimp was tender and packed with flavor, and the chicken was moist inside with a wonderfully crispy exterior. I especially enjoyed the sauces served on the side, with the Spicy Teriyaki and Peanut Sauce being my favorites. The brown rice was nicely sticky and had a pleasant nuttiness, while the noodles were delightful! The portions were generous; we ended up taking home more than half of our meal. Although they don’t serve beer or wine, they do have a soda fountain and canned juices available.
This is the best Hawaiian food I’ve had outside of Hawaii. We lived here when they first opened and returned recently, and it’s just as amazing as I remembered. The Kalua Pork/Pulled Pork is outstanding. My favorite side is the noodles. The chicken and loco moco are great as well. You really can’t go wrong here!
I had a wonderful experience at this restaurant, largely due to the owners' exceptional service and cheerful demeanor. They were genuinely thrilled to share their delicious dishes with us. It's a laid-back place where you order at the counter, and they bring the food to your table. I sampled the coconut shrimp, while my son enjoyed the halibut sticks. The side of vegetables was remarkable; I usually don’t like carrots, but these were seasoned and cooked to perfection, turning me into a fan! The shrimp was flavorful and came with a unique peanut sauce that was quite different from what I'm accustomed to. My son loved his halibut sticks, which were served with tartar sauce, though they were so delightful that they hardly needed it. I definitely plan to return to this restaurant—it's the best Hawaiian BBQ I've ever had!
As a first-time customer, I was genuinely impressed! The online ordering was straightforward and user-friendly. The restaurant was immaculate, the staff were exceptionally friendly, and the food was superb. We will definitely be back to try more options from the menu!
To be frank, this restaurant isn't the most visually appealing. However, the food—especially the loco moco—is incredibly tasty. After being awake for 24 hours, a beef patty topped with an egg served over rice might not seem tempting, but believe me, it's a dish you simply must try.
