The food at this restaurant is fantastic and very fresh. However, despite it not being very busy (only 3 other tables were occupied in the late afternoon), I had to wait 45 minutes to be served. Another family arrived at the same time as mine and had already left by the time we finished eating. The food is nutritious, but the service could definitely be improved.
Asako is an amazing restaurant that I have been frequenting for the past three years. The seafood is incredibly fresh, and the small restaurant never fails to impress. My personal favorites are the grilled sushi, sashimi, tempura, and udon dishes. The authentic Japanese aromas are delightful, and the prices are very reasonable. Even with a group of eight, we can keep the bill under $300 while enjoying a satisfying meal, including dessert options like green tea ice cream and "Doraemon Pancake." I recommend visiting Asako if you are in the Concord/Canada Bay area.
I have been a loyal customer of Asako in Mortlake for a long time. However, a few months ago, the restaurant changed ownership. While the branding, menu, and prices remained the same, I am sad to say that the quality of the food and the passion in its preparation have declined. If you had asked me six months ago, I would have called it the best Japanese food I have ever had, with exceptional quality at a reasonable price. Unfortunately, after two recent visits under the new ownership, the sashimi is not as fresh, the ingredients seem lower in quality overall, and the owner appears to be unfamiliar with the menu. I had to show them what I wanted to order, and tonight's meal was disappointing.
Dog friendly (2 cuties in for a Sunday lunch welcomed), amazing quality fresh Japanese, friendly service great value. Will be back soon!
I've been a fan of asako for a long time since it was opened in mortlake. a few months ago it changed the hands and while the brand, the menu and the prices remained the same, I must say, unfortunately, the quality of the food and so much more important the love in the food has gone they would have asked me six months ago, I would have and said that it was the best Japanese food I had ever eaten and represented exceptional quality at a reasonable price. unfortunately, after two recent visits since the change of hands, the sashimi is obviously not so fresh, ingredients seem lower quality over the board, the owner does not know the menu, I had to show what I ordered and tonight I was served...more
