What PCC doesn't like about Andy's Frozen Custard:
1st time visiting here. School donation event night. Everyone in line had great things to say about the product. My child enjoyed the shake ordered as well. 3 stars for the poor management of the event. Long line of walk up clients and only one window active. Wait time in walk up line exceeded 30 minutes. Friends there were leaving. The event was planned weeks ahead, should have been better prepared. Lots lost and soured my 1 st impression. Despite the in line good product reviews. Maybe better next time. I do recommend the products sold.
Nice place. Very clean, staff is nice and seems to know the menu pretty well. They are a quick service or fast food type dessert restaurant, similar to a Dairy Queen, but Andy 's doesn 't have any dinner options, they only offer dessert(s). They call their product a custard. Not to talk negatively about the product (it is pretty good), but it is basically an ice cream with egg yolks added to the mix before it is churned and frozen. The final product is tasty, but it coats the inside of your mouth and your tongue more than your normal standard soft serve ice cream would. It has more of a velvety feel and texture, rather than if only milk or milk-like substitute was used. They have two basic flavors of custard (ice cream), which are vanilla and chocolate. Then they add different toppings, syrups and flavorings. This allows them to offer a large number of options for the customer to choose from, but not have to have 30 different flavors of ice cream. They have different products for sale you might expect such as malts, shakes, sundaes, splits, a concrete (similar to a blizzard at DQ), a freeze, old fashioned sodas, floats, Italian ice, and even a product called a jackhammer! They also have their product available for sale in pint and quart sizes, should you be interested. Their entire menu is available on their website and they also have all nutrition information available on the website as well and it 's available to download should someone be interested. The custard is freshly made throughout the day, everyday. My family has been there a few times and it 's pretty good and tasty. Not quite the same thing as ice cream, but definitely in the same category in our household. It 's not something we want every day, but we do enjoy it and will be going back.
Edit: I'm not sure what's going on but the past few times we've gone, our stuff has either been made incorrectly or missing toppings/mix ins. These treats aren't cheap so it's frustrating to not get what you ordered. We are going to take a break from going for awhile. Hopefully things improve. There's definitely no shortage of ice cream in the Triangle area but this place is our favorite. Yummy custard with so many combinations! Be sure you download the app-you get points for $5 off your purchase. Everything has always been great and the staff is very nice. There's a drive thru or you can walk up. Plenty of seating in front and around the place. There's a pond to sit by across the parking lot. My favorite thing to order is their root beer freeze!
Upon reaching the end of the line, we were informed that they are closed. Employees with a poor attitude do not present a positive image to the business. NOT satisfied!
This was a favorite during college and in Ohio where I have loved for the past 20 years there are none. In town for a conference and I had to make this a stop. Still the same great custard and as always paired deliciously with the mix ins for a concrete. I had the key lime concrete which mixes custard with an actual piece of key lime pie for a perfect experience. Amazing!!
Andy’s is already receiving an A+ due to them staffing some amazingly, professional, gracious and kind young folks!!! So when I order my Banana Split w/extra cherries or original Straw-Ana with extra cherries, made with care, exactly how I love it with the well oiled machine brand tactics of a Chick-fil-A, as if they own stock in the company, it’s not good!! It’s absolutely DELICIOUS. My every 2-3 month treat aka alone time. ?
