Taste was average, a bit oily, but being in the university village, price was good. We tried the bento which had 'real ' sides. I mean many times I only find edamame or plain salads as sides, but their bento came with shrimp tempura, korean pancake, potato salad I was surprised! And for these treats, I gave them another star! What D'angelo Leuschke doesn't like about Gangnam Style Korean Restaurant:
We had the pork hock and the potato soup that lacked the taste. The seafood soybean soup was even worse ..... with embarrassing miniature frozen seafood, which were used. The woman who served us, Krack does not even smile. First and last here. View all feedback.
Three of us went for dinner on a Saturday night. We didn 't know anything about Korean food so I read these reviews for some tips. The decor is simple, not overdone, but with special tables each housing a gas powered griller in the centre for cook your own Korean barbeque. To begin we were served 4 small dishes to be shared as appetisers. There was no charge for these. Kimchi, beans, sprouts ? and Korean 'macaroni cheese '. We gobbled them all up, even the kimchi which was not as spicy as I have had in the past. Maybe a special Morley version?I had chicken bibimbap which was bbq 'd marinated chicken pieces on some vegetables and rice with a fried egg on top and served in a hot cast iron pot. A medium heat sauce was served to be poured over and mixed in according to taste. It was not as spicy as many Korean dishes quite mild actually. It seemed like a simple dish which could be bought cheaply for lunch and not exotic by any means. It was quite good.Another of us had a seafood and green onion pancake which also contained potato. It was scrumptious and so large he couldn 't get past the halfway mark. I helped him and agreed it was tasty and filling. The other dish was Japanese terriyaki chicken on rice. Simple, well done and once again not a small serve. There were only about 20% of the tables occupied so service was no problem. We vowed to return and be more adventurous with our orders, maybe with a BBQ at the table.
The restaurant with the bright and eye catching LED billboard really adds life to the Morley area. The interior decor was simple and typical of a Korean eatery each table had it's own hot plate to cook your food on, metal chopsticks, and so forth. I chose the chicken bibimbap which came out piping hot and fresh. The wonderful mix of your traditional Korean vegies and a little extra salad complimented the well marinated chicken very well. I'm am still unsure as to why it was relatively quiet, but people searching for a place to eat in Morley should not overlook this place!
Lunch time fun time, we were probably the first customers in this store for lunch, the waitress showed us to put table and we proceeded to go through the menu, they had quite a few selections especially for Korean BBQ, the service was quick, food came out fairly quickly as well and the food was...
This modern looking restaurant serves impressively good cooking! We had the beef jap chae, beef bulgogi, and fried dumplings all of which we were happy with and won't mind trying again. Will definitely return to try other dishes on the menu.
I always love coming to Restaurant Gangnam, I love the food, I love the area, I love the interior set up really makes you feel like you are in Gangnam/Korea! Two of my favorite dish here that I always order whenever I come is the toppokki and the cheese buldak! I love the toppokki even though at times it can be too spicy. But Gangnam's toppokki is at the right softness and it has so many other ingredients (fish cake, veges, etc that add up to the overall dishes. They are quite generous in the portion too. Its cheese buldak is the best, I always order the less less less less very less spicy which is still spicy but at the acceptable level! Come on who doesn't love Korean Chicken with cheese!<br/ <br/ Oh and don't forget Gangnam's kimchi pancake which is a great starter while waiting for the main dishes to come. I love the macaroni appetizers (not once have I come to Gangnam without ordering extra! It's cold, it's sweet, and it's delicious!
