Sunday brunch was busy. Took about 30 minutes to get in and then once we got to order it took awhile to actually get our food as well. A table next to us wired for a server to greet them for over 20 minutes. Once it came, the Monte Cristo and smoked salmonBenedict were delicious. We got to enjoy lunch with their large peacock right outside the window next to its the whole time.
Cute little diner in the middle of no where. How do they stay in business? Some would say it's the peacocks, some might suggest the scenic drive out but I'd dare offer that it's the food. I had the halibut and chips and wife had the bacon burger. Both weregood. If i had known my salad was going to take up the fries if have asked for more fries BUT the salad was made with the goodgreens and tasted good...i just wanted more fries. Wife enjoyed her carrots cake even though she ordered something different. Wedidn't tell the server we got the wrong thing so we just enjoyed what we got haha.
Taggart's is a cozy little spot nestled in the canyons about 5-10 minutes east from Morgan on i84. The spot is unassuming if you're to pull up during off hours, a little cabin shack with a wide parking lot might make you think the place is a secrethideaway with just a few regulars hunched over coffees in the cabin-style buildings interior. Show up when the doors are openthough and the story is quite the contrary; A the parking is filled and the interior is bustling with visitors and staffalike. Taggart's boasts a comfortable interior, majestic patio, and peacocks at the entryway all add into the mystique of theplace. Signs posted about rattlesnake awareness and safety gives the spot an additional charm, wether you have a run in or notyou'll certainly be keeping your eye out. The service was prompt in my experience, and the food was pleasant. A heavy servingof 8 Mozarella Sticks started my order and followed up with a plate of Fish Chips. The sticks were great, but the friedhalibut was in my opinion quite lacking, a seemingly juvenile presentation of the dish with ground halibut instead of batteredfillets. It was alright, nothing to write home about, though spying on my neighbors burger--a great looking plate that wasstacked with meat and cheese--I was prompted to give Taggart's a second shot in the culinary department. All in all, I thinkTaggart's is more about the location and the romantic appeal of having a nice dish up in the mountains, a bit of an adventurethat doesn't require you spending an arm and a leg to run out to Park City for a delicate presentation. Taggart's provides whatyou pay for, and offers a comfy rustic atmosphere that will be sure to spur conversation between friends or family.
Taggart's Grill is a hidden treasure that is truly worth a visit. Tucked away in the canyon, it offers a perfect setting for a summertime meal on the patio. The food is exceptional, and the service is top-notch. I highly recommend trying the Cobb Sandwich—it's bursting with flavor, especially when paired with the house-made pita. The chicken enchilada was also tasty, accompanied by a delightful homemade salsa. However, I did find the carrot cake to be a tad too sweet for my liking. I'll be sure to sample one of their other baked treats on my next visit! I will definitely be coming back!
I also sampled the garlic blue burger, which I had with added bacon. The burger was tender, and the garlic flavor was subtly sweet, enhancing the meat without overpowering it. You simply cannot visit this restaurant without indulging in dessert—maybe one, two, or even three! We tasted the carrot cake, double trouble cheesecake, and a pink frosted cookie. The carrot cake was remarkable: moist, tender, and loaded with shredded carrots. It was pure perfection! The frosted cookie was a delightful surprise, beautifully baked with a golden bottom, and the frosting was smooth with a hint of vanilla. The double trouble cheesecake, adorned with whipped cream and toasted coconut, was equally delicious. It made choosing which dessert to enjoy next a real challenge!
