The Cross Keys Hotel is a local pub that serves good meals at a reasonable price. My relatives, who live locally, eat there regularly. The food is pub-grub style, but it's good value and the serves are large. Keys Bistro suffers from some drawbacks associated with suburban pubs -- the poker machines can interrupt conversation and the "regulars" use language that would be considered profane to delicate ears. In the unlikely event that you want to order wine by the bottle, you may be disappointed. The Keys Bistro is a stone's throw from the Cross Keys Reserve. In all, the Keys Bistro offers a good value proposition and I've always left satisfied.
A groups of gym friends, we always eat here when one of the ladies has a birthday. There is a small area separated off where we Book. We order meals from the bistro but they are happy for us to bring our own birthday cake. The Seniors menu has a good selection.
My meal at The Keys Bistro in the Cross Keys Hotel in Strathmore was quite inexpensive (all meals are $15 for lunch) and the wine was drinkable, but nothing special. I was a bit distracted by the noise from the Pokie area and the TV coverage of things I could bet on. The big distraction was the local men at the bar, who were known to the staff by name, who swore constantly about all aspects of their life and their interactions with others. I did feel a bit uncomfortable.
We were the only bullets in the Bistro Saturday at 12.30. The pork carving came as two large carvings, 4 chat potatoes were large. Pigmeat and potatoes were very hot. The Sauerkraut with them was extra cold. Unfortunately, the meal was bland... and very dry.
