Love the A1 bakery in Sydney Road, Brunswick and have been going there for years. So was excited when they opened this franchise in Essendon. Go there regularly and not sure what's gone on with the A1 part of the franchise - because they've now deleted the A1 from their advertising and are just the Essendon Bakery now. The food is good - not as great as the original and more expensive. But it's handy and the staff are friendly.
I use this cafe as a take away. So my comments are rather limited.I usually buy Turkish bread straight from the oven, but often you have to check in baking times. Their other bread, Pita is also good. The dips and finger food is varied and very enjoyable.Over all the service is great and cheerful.Would recommend this place.
I have not been here for about a year, but it is just as I remember it. The food is delicious and has many vegetarian options. I again chose the spinach and lemon pide. There are many other kinds of pide, a wide choice of salads and also felafel and kofte.
I could eat the spinach triangles from A1 every day and never get tired of them. The tangy and salty spinach on the delicious bread gives it a subtle sweetness that I enjoy. Despite being busy, the staff at A1 are well-organized and efficient, ensuring that orders are quickly fulfilled. The menu clearly marks vegan options, which is very helpful. Overall, the food at A1 is affordable and of great value.
