Sidings Cafe is a unique establishment located in two 1950s railway carriages at Dufftown Railway Station, nestled between the renowned Balvenie and Glenfiddich Distilleries along the Speyside Way. We are a seasonal operation open from March to November, offering daily homemade soups, sandwiches, jacket potatoes, and delicious platters featuring cheese, quiche, or salmon. For those with a sweet tooth, we also have an array of homemade cakes available. Proud recipients of the Taste of Scotland Award, we prioritize using the best local produce to create our dishes. Our cozy 30-seater cafe requires reservations, as we cater to parties over four people due to our carriage layout. Cash and card payments are accepted, and we offer wheelchair access. This restaurant is always a fantastic choice, but their Christmas menu truly exceeds expectations. The meal was outstanding and offered great value. Darren and Anya provide exceptional service, and the decorations and ambience are unmatched. The waiting staff are friendly and attentive. I highly recommend this place at any time of year, but it is especially amazing during the holiday season.
We are a group of 8 and stopped by for lunch. The service was great and the food was perfect. It’s hard to believe that a ham sandwich on white could taste so good. The soup was also excellent. Now the above and beyond. My wife planned a surprise 60th bday party for me that night…our guide contacted our waitress at the Sidings and asked if she could make a cake. The cake was incredible. Above and way beyond.
We called in when we were recently in Dufftown and luckily we managed to get a table. We had tea, scones and a cake and everything was delicious. Friendly staff. Lovely experience.
Had arranged to meet here with a friend. Thankfully, they had booked. We were told on entry at 11.00am we could only have the table till 12.20. The fruit scone was very good. We were reminded again that the table was booked. As we left, people were being turned away as they had no reservation. So, the only downside is time constraint as the friend we met with we haven't seen for a year. And definitely book.
