Glen Avon - Moray
Glen Avon
Description
Nestled in the heart of Tomintoul, this charming pub offers a warm and inviting atmosphere, perfect for cozy winter evenings by the fireplace. With friendly staff and a great selection of local beers and whisky, patrons can enjoy a relaxed experience, complete with free pool and engaging conversation. While the owner’s hospitality shines, the food quality falls short with overpriced, uninspired dishes. Facilities may need updates, as water pressure and Wi-Fi can be problematic. Despite the culinary missteps, this pub is a delightful stop for drinks and local camaraderie, making it a worthwhile visit for those exploring the Highlands.

We stopped in for a drink and ended up enjoying three rounds while having a wonderful conversation with the friendly barman. We also had the pleasure of meeting the owner and Lucy the dog! The open fire created a warm and inviting atmosphere, and there were blankets available for any chilliness. It's worth mentioning that although their website states they serve food, they are not offering it at the moment.
A fantastic pub located in the heart of town. There's a lovely fireplace that makes it perfect for winter evenings. They offer an excellent selection of local beers on tap, as well as a great whisky selection. I will definitely return!
The owner was very friendly and really made an effort to make us feel at home. However, the facilities themselves are quite outdated, and the weak water pressure made it nearly impossible to take a decent shower. Additionally, we had an unstable Wi-Fi connection in our room, although it worked perfectly in the bar area. The rooms are spacious, and we appreciated the presence of tea and coffee-making supplies.
Good pub, really terrible food. Great for a few beers and pool, with friendly staff, but the food was extremely overpriced and low quality, the venison stew seemed like it was from a can and not home made at all... Bland and rubbery, not an onion or carrot in sight. The other dishes weren 't much better, with half the group thinking meh it was ok I guess and the other half seriously disappointed and a bit grumpy. Worth a visit, but probably best to eat elsewhere.
For such a good price they get a very cozy and warm experience in the glamour. the host, graham and hostess, lucy the dog, are absolute wonder in conversation and society. the rooms are spacious, clean and comfortable, they just need to remember that water pressure is not 100! we were welcomed and very welcome, bar and atmosphere very friendly and eating was full and very expensive. the pool table is free to play, and the location of the glenavon is directly in the heart of the city square. either side of the city offer walks through the beautiful Glenlivet-anwesen and an amazing child play area opposite the perückenwamen. I would recommend to tomintoul as a quiet settlement alternative to aviemore, which is only 35 car minutes away (and a wonderful trip through the mountain with it! there are some perfect places for pictures and watching them set sun, all come to the glenavon house.
