We've been regular diners at Les Marmottes for 5 years - for good reasons. Food and service are top notch. Today was the roast ham day, served with the chefs special chanterelle mushroom sauce, which is delicious. We had no room for dessert, so had the tarte tatin anyway, with three spoons, and it was fabulous. There are seats inside and out on the terrace which makes the most of the sun, and a big awning is used when needed - with heaters. If you are looking for good mountain cuisine served in a friendly environment at sensible prices, I'd really recommend Les Marmottes.
Have skied past this restaurant so many times, so decided to stop for a coffee. Fabulous position with fabulous views. Obviously very popular as all tables already reserved for lunch. Hot chocolate not great, coffee very poor and they charged us 3.50 chf each for mars bars. Come on - really!!!
This is the place to go of you want to get away for the tourists. Seasonaires and ex-pats only. Live music every Tuesday night through the season and a lift home. Thanks Kev.
We like this place. On the edge of the Ripaille piste, it can be hard to find but persevere. Rebuilt a few years ago after a fire, inside is all wood panels and an open kitchen. On a hot sunny day, you can eat on the terasse. One of the attractions is the buffet of soups: for SFr 17 per person, you get unlimited access to three different cauldrons of soup. On the day we went there was red pepper and tomato, cabbage and vegetable soup. All were excellent. As were the desserts! A nice place worth discovering. They usually have the plats du jour written on a blackboard at the bottom of the Ripaille T-bar/ button lift which really helps.
The food is fresh and tasty. The omelet and the pizza are huge ideal for hungry teenagers. The plate of the day was also very good with nice chanterelles (local mushrooms). This is a good stop for lunch with sunny tables facing the mountains.
