The ambiance is praised, especially for date nights, but the language barrier may be an issue as the menu is only in French. The oysters are a hit, served on ice with a tasty sauce. Mussels and fries are a must-try. Overall, opinions on Gun-Slinging Uncles vary, with some finding it a hidden gem and others deeming it overrated and disappointing.
My wife had the chicken with pasta and loved it, especially the sauce which was very tasty. I had the lobster roll and was very disappointed. The lobster had been chopped into the smallest pieces I have ever seen on a lobster roll. The seasoning they added was non-descript and the result was a very bland dish. The fries were greasy and tasted like the oil in which they were cooked had not been changed in some time. The sliced baguettes they served before the meal were very good. The service was good but not great. The menu is only in French so unless you understand the language, you will have to ask your waiter to describe every dish.
Had a wonderful evening at les tontons Flingueurs, the oysters were small but fresh , the ambiance was great, impeccable service , I highly recommend.
Oysters were delicious. Fresh food, great service. Would definitely go back if I have a chance. Went there with my wife and overall experience was fantastic
My husband and I traveled to Montreal with another couple and found this spot after walking around Mont Royal. The main lunch rush was over and we had a very nice, quiet meal to ourselves. We had French onion soup (perfect in my opinion, with not too much cheese and broth flavorful but in no way salty), croque monsieur, and Niçoise salad. I wish we were there for the happy hour with $1 oysters. I would definitely recommend. I wish there was a place like this at home.
Do not go to this restaurant. It's overrated, overpriced, service is slow, confusing, fake, and the staff is unwilling to accept criticism. I started with the $1.00 oysters (shells and dirt are free of charge), followed by all you can eat mussels (one style: salty and overcooked). I thought that they might redeem themselves with desert, so I ordered a slice of pear and almond tart. If I wanted to eat raw dough, I would have made myself a batch of cookie dough. Take your money, go down the street, and you'll find fantastic ethnic cuisine for a fraction of what you'd pay here! Oh, by the way, did I mention in what state the woman's bathroom was in?
