I am so glad we came to this place, thanx to our new Montreal friends. This is place owned by the owner of world famous Joe beef restaurant. This is also a wine bar that has great selections of wines but we still went for local wines like we always do. Try some sea urchins, mussels, clams or prawns. You will not be sorry. What User doesn't like about Le Vin Papillon:
Late evening dinner on the patio. Loud music, a "hip" young scene. For a wine bar-style location it was surprising not to have a wine list. Options were suggested by the waitress. The 4 wines we had were average. The food was good, small plates. Dessert that was supposed to be warm was cold, which they comp'd.Overall just OK, but for after 10pm, not many choices for a meal. Love to share the concept of small plates! The Makitake mushroom does not see the most beautiful on photos, but it is so delicious. Was a bit hesitant about the ham cheese as it looks easy to order a dish in a restaurant, but it is surprisingly tasteful, definitely a must! You will never find a selection of wine like these everywhere!
It is a VERY unique French dining experience (highly recommend going as a group to share). The food is infused with flavors of all kinds, from vegetarian to the meat dishes. We could pick items from the menu or ask for surprise. My group asked for a surprise and we were definitely happy with our choices! The patio was beautiful as well. The food was very affordable, underrated for Montreal standards! Anne-Cecile was our waitress and she was OUTSTANDING!!!
