What Layla Heidenreich doesn't like about Le chat noir:
Menu was limited, and entrees were ok duck leg, mussels, croque monsieur average french fare, salad was just strips of romaine. Don't go there if you are looking for fine french cuisine and fine dining. View all feedback.

Great food and service. Our server Emilie was superb. We had the salmon tartare, beet salad, French onion soup, and duck burgers. Just awesome.
I have mixed feelings about this placeFirst of all we came for dinner on January 1st so I am sure this was one of their busiest times of year.
After contemplating where to eat in old Montreal, we chose Le Chat Noir.
Overall, disappointing. Largely empty when we arrived. Food mediocre but nice wait staff
Nice quiet environment for a simple meal, the food taste good, a good place to get away from the crowded areas in old Montreal

read moreMontparnasse offers a mix of experiences, with some customers finding the limited menu and average French fare disappointing, while others rave about the imported cheeses and meats, as well as the excellent service provided by the husband and wife team. Despite some strange incidents with wine service and soggy fries, many guests enjoy the overall dining experience and recommend giving this new restaurant in Old Montreal a try. The desserts, in particular, receive high praise, with a Parisian-trained pastry chef behind the creations.
