During the first week of our Italian vacation, which we spent in Bologna, we started every day with cappuccino and pastries from a different cafe. I never would have guessed that a cafe in a tiny town in Tuscany would blow all others we'd tried out of the water! After our first visit here, we came back almost every morning. You MUST try the sfoglia (I think that spelling is right sort of like a croissant but shaped like a large empanada, with a thin layer of carmellized sugar on top to die for!!
