What Gwen Purdy doesn't like about Carmel's Bistro Giovanni:
The service was mediocre at best. Food was okay. We asked to be educated about “Block 57” wine because that was the only choice for a Cab except for a $450 Opus One... we were told it is the owner's private label. And the Napa Valley on the label was just where the grapes are grown, nothing else about it. It tasted like glorified grape juice, and while drinkable, not worth the $85/bottle in our opinion. Everything we got was pretty good. The service that evening was unfortunately the weak link. Not certain if our waiter kept forgetting about us. We literally witnessed 3 other tables that were sat after us all get served, pay and leave. We were there an additional 30 minutes just waiting to get boxes and pay. Kind of frustrating for an otherwise good meal. View all feedback.
