We have lived in the Billings area for years but it has been awhile since we went to the Rex. We noticed when we arrived on a saturday night that the bar was ve... read more We have lived in the Billings area for years but it has been awhile since we went to the Rex. We noticed when we arrived on a saturday night that the bar was very quiet. Not the usual bustling bar. We were greeted by a long time employee (Karla) and seated promptly. It was clear when we were seated that The Rex wasn't the restuarant that it used to be. we ordered a bottle of wine from their wine list and within ten minutes were told that they did not have it. We made another wine selection and again after ten minutes were told they didn't have that either. At that point we ordered a beer and a glass of wine. When our food arrived we were disappointed in the plating. Presentation of food is so important in the restaurant business. Our food was served on a plate that looked like Corelle ware and the food was placed in blobs on the plate. OUR STEAKS WERE COOKED PERFECTLY MEDIUM RARE. Clearly, The Rex has slipped on the simple things that make a great restaurant. It is our hope that The Rex will fix these things as we would like to support this long standing restaurant in Billings.
