Oh Samosa
3.1 / 5 (2331 reviews)

Description

O Samosa presents a varied culinary landscape, offering samosas, donairs, and baklava alongside vegan options. While some patrons enjoy the quick service and authentic taste, others have reported underwhelming experiences. Disappointment arose over overpriced, lukewarm samosas and missing menu items, while the quality of donair and baklava left much to be desired. However, loyal customers appreciate the hospitable staff and commend the mixed platter. Despite the inconsistent feedback, O Samosa remains a local favorite for those seeking a rapid meal, though potential diners may want to approach with caution regarding certain menu items.

I've been familiar with Oh Samosa since it first opened. At the beginning I was a twice weekly customer. I had gotten to know the owner at the Farmer's Market, and loved her food there so figured her new restaurant would be the same and it was! Skip ahead 7 8 years. Unfortunately, I don't think I will be going anymore. I gave it more than enough chances. The quality of the food has changed a lot. The menu over the years has changed quite a bit. The white rice that is served has peas and carrots in it. In the last year alone, I have visited Oh Samosa twice. Both times I had veggies that had gone bad in my salads. The samosas had an odd sour flavor that was definitely not to my liking. It almost tasted like the oil that they were fried in was old, or older than should be. Today, I ordered a souvlaki wrap but was served shawarma. It's the same meat and flavor, but different textures, and I prefer souvlaki. It's on the menu, yet she gave me shawarma. Not a huge deal, it was still tasty. However, the pita was dry, and hard and absolutely not steamed like pita's are normally done. I also bought some homemade hummus and stuffed grape leaves. The grape leaves were the best I have ever tasted. Absolutely fresh and delicious, like they had been made that very day. The hummus, well, there were veggie garnishes on it that were slimy and obviously had gone bad (which was not a surprise unfortunately) AND the hummus had also gone bad. Quality of food should not be like this in an eating establishment whether it's a mom/pop shop or a chain. I have thrown out more than my share of food that I have bought there due to it have gone bad. I thought long and hard about writing something. I hope she can see this and know that I appreciate her, however, business owners must get the bad reviews as the good ones if warranted. I just request that she pay closer attention to the veggies in the salad and as garnishes, and have dates on the containers of food she sells. Also, pickled radishes are part of this usually, but today there were sweet beets and that to me just doesn't go.
