Was Flutesdragon at Rei Do Piri Piri a mag?
Stopped by chance after travelling back from Monchique towards Foia. The proprietor presented the menu which has quite a selection, but then recommended the dish of the day. This turned out to be exceptional; beautifully cooked chicken served with salad, rice and fries. What migueljpn dislikes about Rei Do Piri Piri:
Despite its weathered appearance, this establishment offers a good experience, with stunning views. The food was average, while the friendly and helpful service added a warm touch to our visit. However, the place could benefit significantly from some renovations, as the run-down facilities were a bit off-putting. Nonetheless, we left satisfied and do not regret our visit. Looked promising, a very polite friendly young lady seated us. The decor was looking tired and the rickety old seats seemed dubious but who could disagree with the views at the table we got on the veranda. Menus were the usual tourist plastic covered ones with pictures to help my lack of linguistic skills. Prices seemed fine. Of the four glasses on the table 2 wet filthy and three of them were cracked or chipped. Food arrived okay time wise and while the portions were huge the food was a big let down. Food was piping hot but the same could be said for the salad. The quality of the smoked ham in the omelette was questionable and the meat in the burgers I got seemed lower quality than I would feed my dog with. Didn't get asked once if food was okay or if we wanted further drinks . Couldn't wait to pay and leave. The boss didn't even bother to get off the phone when he took payment! The toilets are a joke, no hand wash?? I guess that's because there was no sink to wash your hands. In this day and age, that is disgusting! On the plus side the bread starter was delicious. There are plenty of restaurants around, try them!

A little TLC could easily transform this place from good to exceptional, but even as is, it offers a pleasing experience with its fantastic vistas and nice pizzas.
We spotted this restaurant after visiting the Mountain and as it had 'pizza ' in the name our teenage daughter was happy. It 's a little run down, with light bulbs scarily hanging out from their fittings in the ceiling and clinking every time the overhead fans spin round. We ordered 3 pizzas and 2 peri-peri chicken (there is no peri-peri at all by the way, you add it yourself from a grubby pot in the middle of the table which I declined to use as it looked lethal and hot). The chicken was very over cooked but the pizza was very tasty. We ordered a bottle of white wine but it came in a small jug, already poured from somewhere and wasn 't fab. The overall experience was okay, wouldn 't go again but could not fault the staff for their friendliness and happiness to serve. I was surprised by the €80 bill considering we only had basic meals and 2 desserts but couldn 't be bothered to check the bill as we were all tired and wanted to get back to our villa and the pool. I would recommend people to go for the pizza don 't expect a crisp clean eating experience, it 's very laid back and rustic.
Totally agree with other people who have reviewed this place. Stopped here by chance after coming down from Foia and had a great value for money, honest and no nonsense lunch! Would definitely recommend it!
