Contribute Feedback What Quinten Ortiz doesn't like about Shabu Yaki:
I have been meaning to try Shabu Yaki but I really got disappointed— the quality of the pork and beef is poor the side dishes did not exceed my expectations. I think there are other places that serve better quality food that is worth your money. View all feedback.
The good: At least the food was edible enough. Nothing spectacular though. The bad: I've eaten here many times before. It has deteriorated quite a lot since the last time I went early this year. The restaurant is physically dirty. My son saw a cockroach in the cooking stove that was put on our table. What a turn-off. And really, we felt claustrophobic in the place. The bad layout was probably done by the penny-pinching owner. It really, really needs renovation BADLY! And PLEASE let them consult an intelligent interior designer instead of doing it themselves. Ang pangit talaga sa loob. There is no exhaust in the private rooms. The aircons in the private room we ate in were HOT. My guests were trying to be polite but I could see how uncomfortable they were. The heat was very irritating! The service crew was helpful but it did not make up for the mediocre food and warm place. One of the akiage clams I ate was bad...I had to spit it out...the corn cob was sour (I cannot imagine for the life in me why it was so). They only had limited kinds of additional fish and squid balls that could be ordered. The beef for the hot pot was passable...nothing great. Pang laman tiyan as they say. The rice wasn't even a good Japanese or Korean variety. Lastly and most irritatingly, they did not even have a sign in their door informing customers that they temporarily stopped accepting credit cards (when in the past they did). Plus I paid almost P7,000 for such an unhappy, unpleasant and unacceptable experience. The verdict: I don't need their food and service and I am certain I am not giving them any of my future business again. Shabu Yaki gets a big "Boo" and two thumbs down from me!
This is a nice place to eat dinner. The place is calm. You can choose if you wanna eat inside or outside where you can feel the cold breeze of the air. They have different choices for the shabu shabu (and they all taste great i might say). Not sure though with their meat bec we only order one thing, the short rib.
It's indeed, Shabu Yak! You'd be surprised why this restaurant still is operational when exceptional Korean restaurants like Sam Won had to close down. Nothing in this restaurant is appealing. The entrance is as shabby as the interior. The walls are decorated with baseball paraphernalia of a team you barely even know; but portrays the owners fanatic obsession of them. It's not even aesthetically displayed and infact is very similar to a grade schoolers room. The food was meh and the manner of how it was served was as unappealing as the facade of the restaurant, if you even call it that. The heat generated by the stoves overpower the aircon which made the experience even more unbearable. Top it all off, a cockroach crawled out from the bottom of the stove we were cooking. With prices at 500 per person, it was just highway robbery. Dingy, hot, and nothing special. Pass this on and expect this to close down soon. You get .5 because the kimchi was ok. Pro Tip: Move along. There are better korean restaurants around BF. For the best Shabu Shabu experience, try Healthy Shabu Shabu.
