Saigon One - Modesto
Saigon One
Description
A neighborhood spot with unremarkable food, service and ambiance that divides opinion. Guests praise an occasionally warm server and the pho, yet others report frustrating, inconsistent seating policies and poor billing transparency — one guest says an unauthorized $5 tip was added. The result is a mixed, cautious recommendation: convenient for a quick bowl but not for diners who expect reliable service or clear billing.

I had a wonderful experience with the service yesterday. I was greeted immediately by a young man who was extremely polite. We chatted for a bit, and I learned his name is Akuma. The PHO#1 DAC BIET and the duck rice plate were absolutely delicious! I’ll definitely be back to try more options from the menu. Everything was just so good. I also learned a new Vietnamese word: "very tot."
The food was average, the service was average, and the ambiance was also average. I signed the receipt without leaving a tip because I didn’t feel it was warranted. However, I later discovered that they had added a $5 tip to my bill, and I was charged for it. This feels very untrustworthy. I will not be returning to this restaurant.
Pho was great. Had a lot of flavors. Service was ehhhhh. The older man came and told us there were no more deep fried chicken wings. Then minutes later the younger guy came and told us there actually was. But still never got that order also wasn't charged. The cleanliness of the place I give it 4/5.
The food is absolutely delicious, and the staff is fantastic. Rating: 5/5 for the food!
