We stopped here for lunch. 12 euros for a very nice three course lunch. Salad starter, pork schnitzel and dessert. Great value. We were nervous given our lack of French speakers in the party, and the fact that thi... read more My family and I stopped in here during a canal boat tour of the Grand Est. We were nervous given our lack of French speakers in the party, and the fact that this was very much rural France. We needed have worried though. Natalie, our waitress did everything possible to help us out, using her phone to translate and breaking down the language barriers with her exceptionally friendly service and humour. The food was terrific and our kids were offered some options even though they didn't appear on the menu. I would very highly recommend L'Escale to anyone travelling through the area.
