Depot - Mitchell
Depot
Description
Located in a transformed train depot, this restaurant offers a charming atmosphere complemented by a great music selection and an impressive beer variety. While the decor and some dishes, like the walleye and chislic, received praise, aspects of the dining experience fell short. Several guests noted slow service, inconsistent food quality, and the high prices as drawbacks. Some plates, such as the French Dip and steaks, lacked flavor and execution, while a few menu items shone brightly. Overall, the restaurant shows promise but has notable room for improvement in both food preparation and service efficiency.

I believe this will have to be a review with both positives and negatives. On the positive side, the idea of transforming a train depot into a bar and grill is unique and interesting. The background music selection in the restaurant is great, and there is a good variety of beer on tap. However, on the downside, the prices are on the higher side. I ordered a French Dip sandwich that was soggy, with thick mashed potatoes and questionable gravy, and it cost me $18. The restaurant seemed overstaffed, with 7 employees for the same number of customers. It took 18 minutes from finishing my drink to receiving my bill. Additionally, there were unleashed children running around the restaurant. In total, my bill for 2 drinks, a sandwich, tax, and tip came out to $36, which I found to be too expensive.
