Located in a transformed train depot, this restaurant offers a charming atmosphere complemented by a great music selection and an impressive beer variety. While the decor and some dishes, like the walleye and chislic, received praise, aspects of the dining experience fell short. Several guests noted slow service, inconsistent food quality, and the high prices as drawbacks. Some plates, such as the French Dip and steaks, lacked flavor and execution, while a few menu items shone brightly. Overall, the restaurant shows promise but has notable room for improvement in both food preparation and service efficiency.

The food was delicious and the decor was charming. Overall, we had a good experience, but the service was a bit slow. There were a lot of staff members rushing around, but our server seemed to have too many tables to handle. It may have been a particularly busy night, so we would still consider coming back. What Kim N dislikes about Depot:
Decent experience overall. The food was satisfactory, though not exceptional. The service was良好, and there was a reasonable variety of food and drink options available. View all feedback.
I believe this will have to be a review with both positives and negatives. On the positive side, the idea of transforming a train depot into a bar and grill is unique and interesting. The background music selection in the restaurant is great, and there is a good variety of beer on tap. However, on the downside, the prices are on the higher side. I ordered a French Dip sandwich that was soggy, with thick mashed potatoes and questionable gravy, and it cost me $18. The restaurant seemed overstaffed, with 7 employees for the same number of customers. It took 18 minutes from finishing my drink to receiving my bill. Additionally, there were unleashed children running around the restaurant. In total, my bill for 2 drinks, a sandwich, tax, and tip came out to $36, which I found to be too expensive.
This restaurant is fantastic with a wonderful atmosphere and delicious food. As a West Coast transplant to Mitchell, I discovered their chislic, a local favorite that was absolutely amazing. I highly recommend out-of-towners try this remarkable appetizer, even though it's made with beef instead of lamb. The service was great and I enjoyed a delicious lunch.
