Chicago's Pizza - Mitchell
Chicago's Pizza
Description
Mitchell’s Chicago Pizza serves up a diverse selection notable for its freshness and quality. While the restaurant maintains a clean environment with friendly service, the dining experience can vary. Signature items like the chicken bacon ranch pizza and deep dish varieties impress with generous toppings and crispy crusts. Some diners, however, note that the cheese pizza can be a bit bland, and the breadsticks lack crunch. Expect some wait time for freshly made orders, but with its inviting atmosphere and a hero discount, this eatery is a satisfying stop for those seeking delicious pizza beyond fast food.

The food was good, but they were out of almost all the pizzas when we were there.
They provide a hero's discount for various services. I found the toppings to be extremely fresh–not at all slimy like some pizza chains. Their pizza has less sauce, and being a Chicago-style pizzeria, it’s definitely on the bready side. The breadsticks are a bit doughy as well, which means you might get full faster. They also have a salad bar and a few other options on their menu, including Strombolis. Overall, I believe the quality and portion size for the price are spot on.
This pizza restaurant is quite average. Nothing particularly impressive or disappointing stands out. The prices are reasonable for the standard pizza you receive. The staff was satisfactory.
I usually order a cheese pizza when trying out new pizza places because the cheese pizza sets the standard for all other types. If a place can’t get the cheese pizza right, there’s a problem. So, I went with the 7 cheese traditional. I ordered inside to dine in, and there wasn’t much of a line since you order at the counter. The salad bar and pizza buffet were open, but I stuck with my fresh cheese pizza. The young man taking my order was neutral—not friendly, not rude, just doing his job. All the staff wore masks. I’ve also eaten at the French Lick Chicago’s Pizza and reviewed that location. Although they may share ingredients or ownership, these two restaurants felt different. Inside, there’s plenty of seating, along with a salad bar and buffet, but it was busy. Most open tables still had leftover food and dirty plates. I managed to find a clean corner table. The pizza dough had a very mild, slightly bready flavor, but nothing memorable. It was chewy, with no crispness or snap, even around the crust. The tomato sauce was thin and bland, while the cheese wasn’t greasy but a bit salty, and the main flavor came from the cheese itself. I also ordered breadsticks, which were similarly chewy without any crunch or snap and had a very mild flavor. Pros: None Cons: Not very clean when busy, bland pizza, bland breadsticks If I had to choose, I’d recommend the French Lick location over this one. It wasn’t a terrible experience, but nothing really stood out.
This restaurant serves delicious pizza! The pizza was fresh and exactly as we ordered it. The bbq bacon cheeseburger we ordered had a thin crust that was perfectly crispy and delicious. The deep dish pizza we ordered had sausage and pepperoni and was also incredibly good. The service was a bit cheeky, but the food was worth the wait as it is made fresh to order. We recommend getting an order of breadsticks while you wait. Overall, if you find yourself in the area and are looking for a non-fast food option, this restaurant is definitely worth stopping in at.
