Contribute FeedbackFionn MacCool's offers a varied menu with highlights such as the Blarney chips and Rover bites. While some found the service slow, the food quality was generally good. The cozy Irish Pub ambiance includes live entertainment and ample seating options. The patio is recommended for enjoying drinks and dinner in pleasant weather. Overall, a good spot for lunch or casual dining, with a variety of menu options and attentive service. However, some patrons experienced long waits and poor quality dishes, leaving room for improvement in consistency and attention to customer feedback.
First beautiful day of the year so we decide to have dinner out on the patio at Fionn MacCool's. Everything is fine until our mains arrive: mine is overcooked, but my wife's fish and chips are far worse. The fish had all the appearance of having been left in the fryer far too long by an inattentive cook, the batter burnt, rock hard, and prone to shatter at the touch of a fork.I made the mistake of not objecting right from the start. We tried to make the best of two bad dishes however when the waitress came back to check on us I brought it up. I asked how it was that the cook could put such a poor plate up on the pass-through, and further how the waitress could possibly pick it up and consider it an acceptable dish to deliver to a customer. Lastly I blamed myself for accepting the plates at our table. The waitress went off to speak to the manager. The manager never came out to speak to us. The waitress offered us 10% off the bill.I really didn't want a discount, I just wanted confirmation that the plates were not to their standards and that mistakes had been made. But instead the response was essentially "we don't care, that's the way we do it, so take it or leave it."Fair enough. We will be "leaving it," and will not be back to Fionn MacCool's anytime soon.
We were looking for dinner close to home and had not yet tried this spot so we thought we would grab a mid week meal. Upon entry the vibe was not great- depressing. After being seated and welcomed by a huge beltch from one of the patrons at the bar we got a sense of the type of regular clientele. Sticky menus- yuck, dirty tables, dirty floors, dirty everything! Washrooms were filthy and peek at kitchen on the way through was not impressive. Waiters cologne was overpowering, although he was quite nice. this place clearly lacked attention to any type of food service pride and really was a simple watering hole. Which is fine, we had a pint of Luke warm beer and moved on. No food ordering was attempted. I would not recommend for even a quick drink.
The selection wasn't the greatest I've seen at a pub but the food was good when it arrived. The service was great. Our friendly server was consistently checking on us which was perfect. We were even treated to live entertainment with covers of classic rock songs that weren't horribly done.
Pretty good. Service is excellent. Blarney chips as your starter can't be beat.New beer bread with cheddar dip is different. . Good addition to the menu.Nice selection of beers... always served at the right temperature. Steak was cooked as requested.. But was a wee bit chewy.Fish and chips were excellent. Nice place for dinner or snacks. Plenty of free parking. . On main bus routes and close to the Go Train Station.
Visited the Southdown Road location for dinner.Blarney chips are always a good go to as they are completely delicious ridiculously yummy and always the first thing we order. Tonight we also had Rover bites which are a new menu addition. Make sure to order two servings of these as they will disappear quickly. Little round balls of fried potatoes stuffed with other stuff and served with a red pepper dipping sauce. Delicious. Their beer bread and cheese dip is also not to be missed. Our Server recommended southern fish fry which was delicious. Spicy hot crispy and fresh --- an interesting take on fish and chips that I would definitely recommend. Also ordered the curried chicken which is a generous portion of chicken rice and fresh baked pita. Delicious and very well spiced. If you can find room for dessert the warm brownies served with vanilla ice cream was absolutely delicious as was the apple crumble served with vanilla ice cream.Service was attentive and very friendly as always. Having my beer poured out for me is a nice treat.Seems that everyone else has found this location as it is now fairly busy.... but we were seated immediately around 6 o'clock on a Friday night with no worries . Steady stream of patrons coming in after us though. Lots of seating at the bar or there are booths and tables. There are TVs scattered around the room if you are there for the sports. Typical Irish Pub look with dark wood and comfy seating. Lots of parking as it's in a Plaza area surrounded by other restaurants and a Canadian Tire. Would definitely recommend for date night, dinner night or just a drink. Suggest you try the Barking Squirrel beer.
