Best Ice Cream In Italy… Get the pistachio ice cream on a stick as it’s life changing, I have no idea how they created this but probably best find in past 5 years!
After many lovely days in Italy with fabulous experiences in shops, hotels and restaurants, I stopped by Caffe Umberto for a bottle of water and 2 diet Cokes. As the lone person stepping into her shop caused the shopkeeper to hurumph. Then she had the gall to charge me 16 euros for the 3 walk away drinks. And then short me on the change. What she is doing running a shop for tourists is beyond me.
One night as visiting Minori with my two girl friends we came across this place. We were really nice to the owner lady that replied to us rude once she realised we couldnt speak proper italian even though we tried hard, and started talking about us in a bad manner to whom I assume is her husbsnd. Once we paid she literally thrown the change on top of the till and didnt even reply when we say thank you. The ice cream wasnt even good, it was drippy and soggy. Not worth it.
My boyfriend and I were having ice cream here one night. Not the best (or cheapest) ice cream in Italy, but ok. However, what made us never go back again was that when passning by the night after, we saw the woman who had assisted us the night before eating ice cream from a spoon and then from her mouth dipping it right into one of the boxes of ice cream! Such a standard makes the customers run.
I asked for lemon and mango and the lady put first lemon then mango on top, at my first lick it was nearly falling so I asked for a cup. She was bothered and told me that it was normal because lemon sorbet is softer! So why did she put lemon as a base? Why she did not tell me to get it on a cup instead? Because she did not mind and she was quite rude as well. Beside she charged me €3,50. Not even in Sorrento or Taormina I paid this much for an ice cream. Quality was not even excellent. Very Bad.
