Tourist here: came across this place when we needed lunch from a morning at the Mia. It was my first time trying Somali food and it won’t be the last: we got the Philly steak rice meal and loved it. The meat was tender and flavorful and the rice was DELICIOUS. The servings are very generous and can probably feed 2 people, which makes the price very worth it. I will give this place more than 5 stars, very clean and nice atmosphere, I ate most of their dishes since I go there a lot, my most favorite is their chapati wrap and the Somali tea that is available mostly after 3pm. Did I forget the well cooked Goat meat with rice, I can not stop thinking about that. Yes will recommend this place.
Don't judge the food by the rundown look of this Somalian restaurant. It's my first trip here, and the goat stew and malawax (traditional flat bread similar to Indian paratha/rot canai) I ordered totally blows my mind. The stew is full of flavor and fall apart. Can't wait to try other kinds of bread and other meats in my next trip!
Daalo restaurant is the pest restaurant in the city , it was my first time to visited and I found very clean and delicious food soft Goat meat with rice and banana with great service.

The only con I would say is that the dining area was kinda dark and empty; there was one nice young man manning the counter and waiting tables, but that’s not a dealbreaker in my book.
My parents were in town, and I asked them if they wanted to try any food that they couldn't try at home. Without missing a beat, my dad suggested Somali! I did a search and found Daalo Hilaac in my neighborhood. We showed up at the restaurant and there was an A Frame in front with a menu, but a post it in the window that they were closed. I thought it might be a ghost kitchen, and we weren't sure if it was counter service or table service, but we had good food and good service. Somali food is served with a banana, which we weren't sure if it was an appetizer or dessert I later learned that it is a palate cleanser. I tried goat (for the first time) and it was delicious it was soft and tender and reminded me of pot roast. The Somali rice was the best part, it was so flavorful. I'm not sure if tipping is a part of Somali culture, because when they charged our card, they charged it for the exact amount, and we asked to add a tip but they weren't sure how. It felt like a family place and a community hangout spot. Great time experiencing a different culture and cuisine, and I would try something new next time!
