Finally we were able to visit one of the iconic places of the city here in Minneapolis and see why it 's very famous. Juicy Lucy is delicious very good and not expensive. It 's very crowded but it is worth the wait. Great service. Don 't forget to bring cash!! View all feedback.
What User doesn't like about Matt's And Grill:
Jucy Lucy was good... but not somewhere I'd visit during subsequent trips to the Twin Cities, as it fell short of my expectations given it's notoriety. Had a Dive Bar atmosphere but friendly staff made the visit enjoyable. Our waitress (I think Claire? was the best part. Also skip the fries... there are a ton in an order, but they weren't very good. We had the pleasure of visiting this iconic gem twice in just two days! The nostalgia of Matt's Bar Grill makes you eager to return, just like we did! We were fortunate to be served by the same waitress, Renee, who remembered my wife and me, making us feel truly welcomed. We even bought shirts for our entire family in support of this family-friendly treasure! The Juicy Lucy is definitely worth traveling the world for! We absolutely loved it!
I arrived around 7:30 PM on a Sunday night and only had to wait about five minutes for a table for five. We all decided to order Jucy Lucys, along with three orders of fries and two beers (Castle Danger Cream Ale and Grain Belt Premium). The Jucy Lucy was among the best I've tried in Minneapolis—I’ve been to 5-8 Club, Crooked Pint, Nooks, and Blue Door—and the combination of grilled onions, pickles, and the melted cheese inside really came together perfectly!
Still as popular as ever! We arrived around 2 PM on a Friday, and there was a line stretching to the interior door, but it only took about 10 minutes to get seated. The single server was handling the whole section like a pro. The food took around 20-25 minutes to arrive, which was understandable given how busy the place was. Matt's did not disappoint—the burgers were absolutely worth the wait, cooked to perfection with that delightful seasoning, and the beer was icily refreshing.
I absolutely loved Matt’s Bar! The prices were quite reasonable, and the food was absolutely delicious. We mistakenly thought there would be a 40-minute wait for our meals, but our food was ready in just 20 minutes. The portion of fries was huge, and our waitress kindly informed us of that when we placed our order. The only downside was that my daughter, who doesn’t eat burgers, wasn’t fond of anything on the menu. She ended up having fries and soda for lunch, which was a shame because she missed out on the burgers, which looked amazing! The bar has a charming old-school vibe, though it doesn’t appear to have been updated in years. Since we were a party of nine, we couldn’t find a single large table, so we ended up sitting at two tables close together at the back. I would definitely recommend this place and would love to visit again if we find ourselves in the area!
I visited this restaurant twice during my trip to Minneapolis. The Jucy Lucy was far superior to the other place we were recommended.
